Pretty fricking pathetic if you ask me.

It was the first question and not only was he totally out of line with how follow up response but he continues to engage with Boeheim in an unethical manner

CBS won't do shite but he would be fired immediately. Worst display of professionalism I've ever seen from a reporter. He makes ESPN's reporters look like the fricking Pope

That is typical Doyel. In the new world order where everyone has a press pass and the lowest common denominator wins, even legitimate sites like CBS have trolls on staff. Doyel is generally an idiot, but he comes through with some gems and says a lot of things regular mainstream media wouldn't, so I think he is not all bad.

By the way, on the radio the dude is absolutely hysterical. His sarcastic schtick doesn't translate well into writing.

He has always been a troll. Doyel & Freeman are just terrible.

I haven't frequented CBS in a very long time because of the low brow idiots they have on their site.

Dumb question by the reporter but as a coach you should just answer or refuse to answer the question and not try to belittle the reporter. It's part of the territory of being a big time coach. The reporter has a right to defend himself when the coach give him a sny remark saying oh I'd expect that from you.

Said reporter has made a habit of answering his email by googling people and finding ways to trash them. He is easily the biggest sports troll I have ever read. Literally to the point I stopped using Sportsline years ago.

Freeman is just an idiot who writes like a 4th grader. Thus I gave up on that site.

Boeheim was the arse... that was a legit question

i don't know anything about the reporter or his background, but whatever question he asked, Boeheim could have answered it in a better way.

i'll give him a little leeway bc of just losing in the final 4, but there's nothing that says reporters should hold back in press conferences just bc feelings might get hurt

They'll never fire him just like ESPN will never fire Skip Bayless. Whatever brings in the page views. It's disgusting, but that's "journalism" in today's world.

Not to mention this is a pretty common question no matter how much Ole Jim doesn't want to believe it is.

If it was the very first question, it deserved that type of response. They just finished a hard fought Final Four game, and the first question isn't even about the game. Jim had a great response, "Are you going to ask the other coach that question?"

This is all about self-righteous journalists looking for a "gotcha" moment. Just talk about the game.

Doyel is CBS' Skip Bayless. He's not going anywhere. They both acted like babies in that presser.

Even if you don't like the reporter where should anyone be fired over this? So if a reporter asked one of the players if he will be back next year they should be fired too? Come on guys, this is a non story and after possible ncaa violations coming their way maybe it is a legit question since there have been rumors circulating about him retiring and all he had to say if he really was coming back is of course he'll be back next year. He has also been coaching at that school since the 1970's so it has been a long run and he is getting up in age. The only thing the reporter could have done differently is ask if this loss motivates him for next season knowing they were so close to reach the championship and then see if he hints at possibly not being back even though I doubt he would have.

I would tend to agree with you but there is a huge error with that comparison

Bayless trolls as an 'analyst' on a TV show. Doyle did this as a reporter and asked this as the first question after a loss at the Final 4.

If you're a reporter and pull that shite, GTFO. I don't see Bayless at press conferences stirring up the pot.

And I don't buy his defense that he was on a deadline so he needed to ask the first question and go write his story. There were probably about 100 other "legit" reporters there who were writing game stories for their respective print newspaper, not a column for a website
