Absolutely. And it's not close.

Nelson Cruz no doubt deserves to start as the designated hitter.

However, A-Rod is having a substantially better season than Morales, Encarnacion, and Martinez, who are the other DHs in contention.

A-Rod's OPS is over .900. He's have a really good season.

Betances and A-Rod should be All-Stars from the Yankees. With Miggy's injury, Teixeira has a legit argument to be on the team, as well. Should be Fielder, then either Pujols or Tex.

Gardner could also garner a manager's selection. He's having a very good year, as well. But I don't think he'll quite make the cut.

By the way, there are only 5 players the age of 39 or older in MLB history to post all of a batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage as high as A-Rod's are right now in a season.

Babe Ruth
Ted Williams
Stan Musial
Willie Mays
Barry Bonds

Definitely an all star.

Could play 3B or SS in the ASG. that's how horrid AL SS are.

Ya know...unless Correa makes it

I know, but he's on the ballot as a 1B. Not that it matters, but that's where I drew my comparisons.

No way. He would get in strictly as a DH and Fielder and Cruz are both having better seasons. Unless you want 3 DHs in the all-star game, A-Rod doesn't belong.

Why wouldn't you just start Fielder at 1st? Then take both Cruz and A-Rod.

That would make your team better.

My first thought was that the 1B position is too deep but I'm looking at the numbers right now and a large majority of the top 1B are in the NL. And with Cabrera out, the 1B position for the AL has gotten even shallower. So having Fielder as one of the All-Star 1B does make a lot of sense. However, that still leaves Cruz who's putting up better numbers in a much tougher ballpark for hitters.
