I'm not sure if this has ever been brought up. I don't think it would hurt and would give athletes something to fall back on if they flop in their given sport or have a career ending injury/condition.

Most people would say that they have the opportunity to do it once their career is over, but why not get done on the front end?

What about injuries in college sports? An injury in college is always a possibility. This could serve as incentive to hit the books, get out and minimize your risk.

You should watch the UNC episode of HBO's Real Sports. Just because athletes get college degrees. Does not mean they will be useful.

To answer your original question. I don't think it should be a requirement.

This might be the dumbest thread in the history of the MSB.

I can't tell you how shocked I was when I saw this wasn't a goldennugget thread.

There should be no college or age requirements at all past 18. This is America.

What good would that do? I'm all for getting rid of any requirements. If you're 18 and good enough to be drafted, why shouldn't they be able to take that opportunity?

you can always go back to college. You can't get 4 years of your career back when you get too old to play anymore.
