I was wondering that as well. Does it matter if it's a throw from the outfield?

It does not, only thing that matters is if in order to catch the throw the catcher has to move into the base runners lane and in that particular case that absolutely wasn't the case

Being the home team would be a lot better
still a lot of year left though, maybe the cubs will lose more than a game or two in a week or two somewhere
