I think it was a huge disappointment. I know with Bryan Bennett hurt most of the year with a bad wrist, foot, shoulder, etc. was going to hurt, but I have issue with the coaching. Against SEMO, we go for 2 instead of just kicking the xtra point then lose by one 24-23. Who knows we could have won that one and then we would have hosted at home. SFA we sit Bennett out the first half and then get behind and can't come back, but Roberts decides to put him in during the second half. If he had just gone with Bennett from the get go, this is probably another win. Only game we were completely out was the Tulane game.

We are losing a lot off this team, 24 seniors, although we will have 30 seniors next year. Need to go find an FBS qb. Landor I am not sold on his passing ability. If we cannot pass the ball, teams will load the box and we won't do anything on offense. If we can't get an FBS qb, then we need a gamebreaker at RB. I like the group we have, but don't see any gamebreakers. I think the offensive coordinator should be canned. Terrible showing with all that talent coming back.

Fire away.

Disappointment. Coaching was bad, especially with the play calling.

And I agree with your thoughts on quarterback. We are in trouble if we do not find one.

As much as I hate to say it, Roberts needs to cash in on the success and parlay it into a FBS job if he can. SELU takes a huge step back with Bennett gone.

I've been saying all year he's gone because his stock won't get higher. Bennett made the offense.

Very VERY disappointing season for the Lions.

I was expecting so much more.

This team definitely underacheived this season. Some of it can be attributed to Bennett's nagging injuries, but I also thought our offensive scheme was abysmal most of the season.

How many times does the option dive have to fail before we abandon it? The answer: infinite.

Now, I'm going to disagree with you on Landor. I think very highly of him, he's a great athlete. He doesn't have as strong of an arm as Bennett, but I think with a full offseason working with the first team he can turn into a decent passer. There were multiple times this season when Landor looked better than Bennett.

We won't have a big game breaker at RB next year. We'll have another stable. The good news is we'll get Xavier Roberson back. We REALLY missed him in the SHSU game. He's arguably the best returner in FCS and I loved how we worked him in on offense this year. Hopefully we'll see more of that.

The biggest loss off the team this season will be at LB. Misita, Muse and Corbett are all gone.

I don't think the drop off for SLU for next year will be HUGE like some are saying. The team we fielded a year ago is likely the best we'll have for a while. I see next year's team looking a lot like this years team.

A ton of depth at RB
A ton of depth at CB and S
An athletic QB that will occasionally struggle to complete passes

FIFY.

As for this season, the playcalling was absolute horseshite. In the big games, it was obvious that the strategy was to get up by 2 scores and attempt to hold on for dear life while the playcalling became horrendously predictable with the run, run, pass, punt "scheme". I swear, if I ever meet Roberts, I'll ask him WTF is up with that. A damn 10 year old watching SLU's tape can spot that out and deploy a 8 man box for 1st and 2nd downs, then send the corners on 3rd.

The best thing they can do is fire the OC and search for a new one. The play calling and was horrible and what was worse was everybody seemed to be able to see it except the OC.

Is it just me or a lot of the issues SELU has on offense are similar to LSU's? Seems like we are determined to run no matter how many players stack the box. I realize Bennett and Jennings couldn't be further apart, but seems like we didn't throw it as much as we should or due to injuries Bennett wasn't as effective as he was last year.

The thing is teams didn't stack the box. They played a 2 deep shell with 7 in the box and shutdown the run. NH did that last year in playoffs and most teams started playing that afterwards against SLU. Offensive line was just average this year. Sucks because the D was so good.

As for next year... Losing too much. Gotta replace Bryan as well as a few good WRs. On D you gotta replace a stud DE (Newman) and 3 big time talented LBs (Corbett, Misita,Muse) as well as a solid backup(Church). Secondary should be fine.

Chris Briggs should be a solid receiver next year. A transfer from USM who sat out this year, will be a senior next year. Tall and lanky at 6'5". Had a solid freshman year at USM but didn't play much after Fedora left

The O Coordinator job is interesting. Roberts went after one guy hard thinking he would get him, and when he turned Roberts down he was shocked and had no backup plan. Therefore he threw in a guy who wasnt ready.

Very disappointing season. Conference championship was nice but this team was expected to compete for the national championship. It's sad because their defense vastly improved from last year and was a championship caliber defense that was getting more dominant each week. But this season falls squarely on Roberts and the staff. They had pretty much everyone back on offense from record breaking year last year, but we're downright bad late in the year. And u had a head coach calling plays like he is coaching play station football. Going for multiple 4th and longs at midfield. Probably 1 for 15 on fake punts and field goals throughout the year.

Nothing is worse than Saturday when u are up 10-0 middle 3rd and ur going for it 4th and long at midfield after faking two punts there already. Defense bailed u out for 3 quarters but short field cost them late.

Semo loss hurts. Win that. You have a top 8 seed and bye. Roberts is an outstanding coach but the guy is a super agressive in game coach and it hurt us in a few games this year including the most important one last Saturday.
Still can't get over the go for 2 strategy at semo. One of the worst things I have ever seen a coach do.
And this past Saturday. Fake 2 punts and also went for a 4th and 14 all around midfield when your defense at the time was pitching a shutout. Gave them short fields time after time being dumb.

SELU will take a step back. Losing a lot of talent. These couple of high years will help recruitment so hopefully they can return to playoffs soon
