Baldwin posted a video on his Twitter page and spoke the following words:

“We are a team comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds. And as a team, we have chosen to stand and interlock arms in unity. We honor those who have fought for the freedom we cherish. And we stand to ensure the riches of freedom and the security of justice for all people. Progress can and will made only if we stand together.”

Why don't they just put their hand over their heart and not use the national anthem to make some kind of political statement?

Whether it be interlocking arms or taking a knee, you're still disrespecting the flag by making it about yourself.

Good for them. I like this.

It's a positive message and represents the best of America.

I don't have a problem with that. Seems like rustling jimmies with a national anthem protest on 9/11 is asking for angry backlash.

I was hoping it would be something like this. I had a hard time seeing 53 guys agreeing to a show of disrespect.

It's very clever. They got everyone's attention and then announced a show of unity.

During the lead up to WW2 because the government felt the original salute was too close to the Nazi salute.

How else does a busy famous athlete make a political statement?

Stand at the state capitol steps with a bullhorn? Do sit-in at Qwest like those idiots at Mizzou?

Write your congressman, every day for 10 years?

This is the biggest platform the athletes have...on national TV...and look at how it is rankling so many people. I guess the platform is working because people keep talking about this. One little blurb about Kap and a few other athletes and this has turned into a national conversation. If people had said about Kap..."oh whatever" - this wouldn't have been a big deal.

It's the ones who are offended who have made this a big deal. And isn't that always the case...the offended in our society always making a mountain out of a mole-hill.

From stupid people that don't know the difference between the pledge of allegiance, and the national anthem.

Food for thought: Aren't you always making a political statement by standing and putting your hand on your heart?

There are plenty of ways. LeBron made a political statement by wearing an "I can't breathe" t-shirt during pre-game.

That created a lot of headlines.

You don't need to protest the national anthem to get your message out.

You're wrong. Nobody is talking about racial injustice because of this. Everyone is talking about whether or not Kaepernick is a dumbass for not standing during the national anthem.
