LA Daily News

quote:

USC head coach Steve Sarkisian said he will go to treatment after combining an undisclosed medication and alcohol Saturday, leading to an embarrassing appearance at a booster event where he appeared to be intoxicated, using expletives and attacking other Pac-12 schools.

quote:

"I’ve met with Pat at length, and there’s things we’re going to work on moving forward,” Sarkisian said.

Sarkisian was also slurring his words and told lewd jokes, according to at least one group.

“I took medication with alcohol, fortunately not a lot. I responded in a way that is not acceptable for me or the university,” Sarkisian said Tuesday.

I meant that in earnest, it was obvious how well O was motivating and coaching that team after Lane got sacked.

I think Ed O blew his chance at SC with his Ole Miss gig. But also think that in a city like LA you have to have a salesman that is understandable when selling Hummers, Rolls, and the like. Ed not so much.

He couldn't purchase any since he left his ID outside F&M's.

Yeah, that's what I was linking. Maybe I'm retarded but your last sentence read a little oddly to me and I wasn't sure if you were referencing the advertisement or not.

The joke in all of this is Pat Haden chose him because he thought Coach O wasn't polished enough to be a head coach at USC.

Does he have a history of being a drunk? Or is this an isolated incident?

For one, either way, if he's in the public eye it's unacceptable to act like this. However, if this is just an isolated incident I think making him enter treatment is excessive and reactionary.

I obviously have no USC or UW connections but the scuttlebutt I've been reading on other sites says that it was known in Seattle that Sark was a fan of boozing to excess.

Not only that but supposedly they were sick of him to the point they were likely going to can his arse and eat the rest of his contract.

USC taking him off their hands was actually a blessing in disguise according to quite a few people on their boards.

How did Pete Carroll get all these clowns on the same page. Kiffin, Sark, O, etc.

"And by 'medication', I mean 'being a total lush with no self-control that can't handle his booze'."

For some reason, I thought of a hilarious scenario at a REC meeting or Crimson Caravan stop in which Saban is pounding bourbon and eating xanax like candy. I'd pay good money for that.
