Hopefully so.

I couldn't imagine being in her spot. I have 8 siblings and am close with all of them. It'd suck to have any of them be frickups.

My parents are incredible people. Role models, both. We were/are very lucky growing up (some of them are still at home).

Mom's former military, too, and runs a tight ship Got out of the service early to homeschool my sibs and I. Still doing it while she runs her own business on the side.

We BETTER not turn out as bad apples or we'll have to answer to some pissed off veterans

Dad is an enabling scumbag who should not be saying a damn thing to anyone. Trash family to the nth.

Who in the hell is "they"? How about "he" or "we"? Perfect example of why Manziel is in this predicament. Deflection and not a damn bit of accountability.

This is what pisses me off. Parents who expect someone else to take the lead in getting help for their son or daughter, or expect that son or daughter to get help themselves.

Stop being so damn passive about it and LEAD the effort yourself.

You are your son's only father in the whole world. Act like it!

This is how people die from drug and alcohol addiction. Everyone assumes someone else is going to take the addict to get help. I've seen it happen. I've seen people die from inaction. It's sad.

It's true that no help sticks until the addict wants to change, but that could take a very long time. In the meantime... don't let someone kill himself with drugs and/or alcohol. Get the people that need help to people who can help them.

Hmm. Perhaps if his Dad would have been a little more fatherly then his son wouldnt have grown up to be a huge spoiled piece of shite.

If my son. I'm on a plane immediately. I whip his fricking arse. Explain to him what an embarrassment he is. How he's wasted these
opportunities. Drag his arse on a plane. Throw him into rehab. Delete his social media accounts. Throw away his cell phone. And instruct everyone in the family to keep their fricking mouths shut to the media.

Explain to him until his life is straight. It's all over. All of it. Football, social life, and fame.

This works great if your son is 15.

I didn't realize Johnny had surpassed the maturity age of 15 years yet. Not to mention, physically, he's 5'11" and a buck 70....

He has passed the legal age of 18 and has made enough money to easily be financially independent. What you said you would do is the empty, blowhard, tough guy stance. The father has no standing to do any of that stuff to his adult, financially independent son. At least not until Johnny does something to get himself sent to the emergency room od'ing or something or otherwise committed.

I agree, but perhaps his father is admitting that he has lost control. He may be waiving the white flag and saying there is nothing I can do anymore.

It doesn't excuse him whatsoever, but that may be his motivation.
