Well yeah the Yankees haven't had an offer yet to anyone, it is really a weak FA class

I thought he wanted years. 2 years isn't that bad. Sure, he's overpaid, but so are most free agents. The good news for the Pirates is they aren't stuck overpaying him for half a decade.

He draws a walk and has some pop. He's not worthless and the free agent catcher pickings are mighty slim, as per the norm.

thats the kicker though, as a catcher he wanted more than a one yr deal, yanks probably would have given him the money for a one yr deal but they are getting below 189 by the '14 season. I think its 189, not sure - anyways they are getting out of the tax hit by '14. I still think they get a guy with only a yr left or low salary guy.

Surprised he took it honestly, he was seeking 3/4 year deal at 10. Yankees were reportedly going 2 at 7/8 million. They may have a few incentives that could bump it higher that haven't been released yet I guess. But it isn't far off from what Yankees wanted to offer.

Wondering now if yanks make a run at AJ with a 2 year deal or 1 year and option.

Bmac disagrees with you. I could see the Yankees picking him up!
