According to Frank Isola of the NYDN its being discussed:

quote:

Dwight Howard could be moved by Thursday's trade deadline. Miami is talking with Houston about a deal that would include Hassan Whiteside.

1) Miami would have to throw in some serious salary filler to make it work. Dwight makes 24 mill, Whiteside makes 900k.

2) Whomever gets Whiteside will have a tough time re-signing him if they are anywhere near the cap. Miami doesn't have his Bird Rights to trade so you can't go over the cap to re-sign him, and word is he wants a max or near it.

He's going to be a UFA without any Bird Rights.

Hassan Whiteside to Houston would put Lester Earl in quite a bind.

Howard would immediately go from a top 5 center of all time to a boarderline top 25, according to some rockets fan on this board.

Struggling to decipher that one myself.

I'm just glad the Rockets have proactive general management. They don't sit on their hands or get complacent, especially when the going gets tough. Better than staying mired in mediocrity/suckitude like some franchises.

That is excellent spin for pushing the panic button.

Isn't consensus here that the Rockets should "push the panic button?"

Which part? Hassan being a headcase or Rockets atmosphere being not so great? Which one don't you agree with?
