Rummel and West Monroe appear to be the two big boys on the block this year. Both these these teams had very impressive pre-district schedules. All opinions on select and non-select aside, it's ashame they won't cross paths this year.

Yep, private schools still beating their chest even though they have no district lines and get talent from anywhere.

Would be even if the catholic schools could enroll 8,000 kids

West Monroe would roll rummel just like the last time they played. This WM team may be better though

With the defenses for both schools, neither would roll the other. Game would depend on which WM showed up and health. WM's top 3 RBs are banged up at the moment and they already lost Belton.

I'd pick wm to beat rummel. Wm has talent at every position and 2 to 3 deep at each. I couldn't tell you when the last time a Catholic league team beat wm. Wm is able to open up the playbook a lot more since probably at least 10 years by having a pretty good passing game now.

So Rummel would have no control over whether or not they beat West Monroe. I disagree.

WM always has an excuse when they lose. No one has ever just been better

The closeness would depend on what WM showed up IMO. Would they run the offense that rolled up 44 against Lufkin, throwing only 7 times or would they try to throw 20+ times like against Madison Central and Franklinton? If 20+ is the offense with a talent like Fulton, I would expect multiple turnovers and Rummel might win by 4 touchdowns. If they ran the ball like against Lufkin, I would expect a close game that could go either way. The clock would run nonstop, few possessions. Both teams are so close, really you couldn't predict accurately who would win. Could easily go either way. Same if you throw in Brother Martin, who might be better than both honestly.

Much, much different WM team too. Senior Paul Turner on that last team. WMs QBs aren't close to him. Sophomore reminds me of him, but he's just a sophomore.

Why are we debating a hypothetical matchup that West Monroe wants no part of?

I've never seen a scared team win a football game. Rummel rolls.

Being bitchmade? Over half the state voted for the split. So don't blame that on just wm. And making excuses...I know you've been to a game where the officials played a big part in a game. I can tell you I have witnessed many of times where the refs make it an objective for wm to lose. Don't say I'm lying because I'll say one of the years wm played barbs wm had around 30 penalties. Hell last year wm played destrehan and got screwed by many of calls by officials from Hammond. And wm almost beat them. Everyone knows everyone down south hates wm. Very few teams will say they respect wm, like Acadiana For one.
