Is there an issue with this? If the two teams meet in the playoffs it will have the highest ratings of any match up and will be must watch television for baseball fans.

We've already lost twice in the actual World Series. I'd rather lose in the Wild Card then ever have to deal with that again.

You over estimate the draw of the Rangers or Blue Jays. Also in the playoffs you won't see retaliation.

You're looking at in a vacuum. Bautista punked the Rangers bitch asses so bad last year that their fans were still salty about it 7 months later.

Fans want to see that rematch. I would tune in, at least.

The Blue Jays are the most popular team in baseball as of last year. They have an ENTIRE country behind them.

Just on baseball teams' reddit sites, Toronto has been by far the most busy since last year and has the greatest increase in subscribers, up 20K from last year. And that's just the people who subscribe to their Reddit page, not the casual fan.

Texas is only in one of the largest tv markets in the United States. I don't think that's over estimating it at all.

Baseball doesn't work like that, it just doesn't.

All that's happening in the equation is that Texas goes in place of Toronto and plays at a max seven more games which we ultimately lose four of them. It's a no brainer.
You must be really good at gambling being so certain of things like this.

I don't have a problem with it. There was the potential for this incident to have resolved all of the outstanding issues if it would have been handled honorably. If the Rangers hit Bats in their opener this year, that probably ends the issue for all time. Now it will go until they play again. That is on the Rangers for being huge pussies.

So you want Texas to throw at a guy and possibly cause a ruckus in front of a home Toronto crowd that had no problem throwing beer cans and trash at children last year?

Shows where your priorities are.

Believe what you want, but this couldn't be further from the truth. There wasn't a moment in any of the games where the time to do it was 'right'. Every game was close and there were not garbage at-bats.

When it came down to it, they took care of business. If he didn't want to be hit don't showboat the shite out of a home run that isn't a walk off. He knew when he did that shite that he likely was going to pay for it, nobody has to put a timer on when it happens.

CJ Wilson of all people said this back in 2014. This isn't some new thing that's happening, baseball players know how it works. Bautista shouldn't have been a whiny pussy and just lived with the fact that Texas got even.

I think this is the point. Texas was mad about it but not so mad that they would risk retaliation against themselves. When the Cubs and Stros had beef, the Cubs threw at Roger Clemens in a game 2 of a three game set in Houston. That's playing the game the right way. Not doing something because you are scared of what might happen is the definition of being a pussy.

So not worrying about children's safety makes you not a pussy?

If I had to guess, MLB likely told Texas not to do it there because of all the shite the Toronto fans did there in the playoffs.

You're making shite up. There is no evidence that the Rangers didn't do it because they were worried about children's safety. Beyond that, though, you made quite the strawman. I didn't say not doing it in game 1 made them pussies. I specifically said waiting until nothing could be done about it to protect them from retaliation should they go outside the rules was a pussy move. It was. So address that. There were plenty of games before the last one in the set. There were plenty of innings before Bats' last AB in the series finale. The Rangers were cowardly. That's why guys like Eduardo Perez called them cowardly. That's why guys like Chad Durbin say that the Rangers kept this vendetta going because they don't know how to handle business.

Dude, Bautista was loading up a punch himself. It's pretty obvious. He was just much slower in his execution.

He show boated?????? Looked like a great reaction to a HUGE home run at a critical moment of a playoff series. That's what you won't get. And you were still upset about it till the Rangers took so called revenge. So if prince hit a home run (at home) like Joey did and flips his bat like that you would be ok with it???? Sure you would.

The Jays hit Prince on the very next pitch. He laughed and waddled to 1st. I think it's over.

Also, an important detail has been forgotten about the bat flip. Bautista didn't really flip the bat. He tossed the bat across his body and it landed right in front of the Ranger's dugout. An exaggerated flip over your shoulder or tossing the bat towards your own dugout during an epic moment is different than throwing a bat with his left hand, across his body right at the opposing dugout. Don't know how much that changes things, but the conversation & debate about the entire situation rarely addresses the Ranger's main problem with Bautista.

Yes. You can't deny it. But it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Athletes showboat all the time in football, basketball, soccer, etc. and no one cares. The "victims" of the showboating get temporarily mad but they quickly suck it up and move on like grown arse men, not hold a grudge for 7 months.
