While it might be true, I don't really agree with it.

Tiger and Rory will both have 4 wins and Rory has the advantage with the Major win.

I jumped on the Rory bandwaggon about two/two and a half years ago when I first read about him and then saw him play on tv. He wasn't as well known at that point. Now that he has firmly arrived, it won't be as much fun pulling for him.

They would have had almost identical seasons depending on where Rory were to finish if Tiger were to win. Currently:

1st place (Tiger 3, Rory 4)
2nd place (Tiger 1, Rory 2)
3rd place (Tiger 2, Rory 1)
Top 10 (Tiger 8, Rory 9)
Top 25 (Tiger 12/18 played, Rory 10/15 played)

Rory did miss the cut at the Players and US Open, which hurts his resume, IMO. That said, I think that Rory wins it and it won't bother me one bit. He's extremely deserving and playing great.

I think the Major win make Rorys season greater

If Tiger gets to 4, it's extremely close. The Major puts him over the top.

I think it will also. But, it also has to be considered that Rory missed the cut at the US Open, and the 5th major, the Players. I don't think you can disregard that because he won the PGA. You have to account for that.

That said, even accounting for those missed cuts, I think that him winning 3 of the last 4 events is enough to get Player of the Year.

Rory wins > Tiger wins

Tiger won one tournament with competition, One in his backyard, and one that a buncha nobodies played in, not impressed.

Won't matter anyway cause he won't come close to winning this weekend. Just like I said he would fall aprt last weekend, it will happen again, dude is DONE.

Peej, that guy makes you look like a Tiger lover

I've never seen him say a positive thing about Tiger, ever. As evidenced by him downplaying 3 wins this year

If it is so easy to win 3 times in a year, why can't more players do it? Rory is the first one to win 4 in a year since Tiger did in 2009.

ETA: Even if Tiger wins a 4th, Rory should be POY.

I don't exactly think he fell apart last weekend. He shot 4 under on Sunday. Last weekend was more of Rory dominating than Tiger falling apart.

Rory missed a few big cuts, but he should get player of the year. Very deserving.

That's a lock. I bet you Rory doesn't win this weekend either.

I think the 3 consecutive missed cuts hurts Rory. His trough was much lower than Tiger's this year. Although, in the last month, Rory has been whipping Tiger each week. I think it will come down to who wins the Fed Ex Cup. If neither of them win it, then Rory will get POY. If I was voting, I'd give it to Rory no matter what though.

I agree with all this.

I wish Tiger and Rory could play every round together. Those first 2 rounds last week were something special to watch.
