He spent last year with the Nuggets and allegedly was the mastermind of their offensive explosion last year, but was with Houston the previous 6 years.

He was hired away from the Nuggets by the Pels today, presumably to try and help them make the AD/DC offense work.

I'm reading a lot of articles about this guy that make him seem like an offensive genius and excellent coach.

Just curious if you Rockets guys have any thoughts on him.

Pretty sure he conducted the Morey ball experiments down in the D league for several years. Another pace and space disciple. He was well thought of in the organization as far as I know.

He was the offensive guy during the McHale years and was the head coach of the RGV Vipers before that.

Runs a read and react type of system.

I don't see what he brings better than Gentry though to be honest. I thought JB Bickerstaff (who is now with Memphis) was the better assistant.

I guess all I have to say about him is that he's alright.

The criticisms of McHales offenses (led by Chris Finch) was that they were TOO open and had too little structure. This led to stretches in games where the ball movement would go to zero and there was a lot of standing around and 1 on 1 play that was tough to watch.

Maybe it would be different with big men who can score. The Nuggets had a good offense when he was there.

From what I can see, he was largely brought in based on what he did with Denver last year.

Yeah the Nuggets had a really good offense so who knows. The Nuggets could also shoot the 3 really well.

I recall this year they would always light us up from deep.

He's a great offensive mind. Honestly thought he was going to get a shot at replacing McHale but that would have been a huge jump.

I heard he struggled in the Nuggets final game with an undisclosed concussion.

And the Pels cannot.

Obviously that SHOULD be an offseason priority for them, as it is one of the only ways an AD/DC pairing will work. I say should, but...Dell Demps.

Chris is great. Good to see the CC coaching/management trees making big time impacts around the league.

We are loyal to our players and coaches even after they leave. Would never throw family members under the bus.

To be honest none of us really know how good a coach is unless you are in the locker room and see it first hand.
