Richard Sherman is still mad at Wilson and Carroll

Richard Sherman wanted to send a message to Russell Wilson. And so, a few plays later, when Sherman picked off Wilson, it wasn't enough just to make a great play. According to witnesses, Sherman threw the ball back to Wilson and yelled, "You f---ing suck!"

quote:

Patriots corner Malcolm Butler jumped a route like nobody had ever jumped a route on the game's biggest stage. That moment haunts the Seahawks to this day. Few have taken it harder than Richard Sherman. He has told teammates and friends that he believes the Seahawks should have won multiple Super Bowls by now. And with just one trophy and the window closing fast, he has placed responsibility for that failing on the two faces of the franchise: Wilson and Carroll.

quote:

Wilson is an extremist too. He claims to flush bad plays right away, speaking of letting go so confidently that it seems rehearsed. That spring Wilson chartered a trip for the entire team to Hawaii. After all, the story detailed the hours players spent on the trip at the edge of a cliff, rehashing the play, airing grievances. Wilson, in the vein of Carroll, doubled down by saying that he'd throw to receiver Ricardo Lockette again.

quote:

Carroll hosts "Tell the Truth Monday" during the season, when he breaks down film. Some Seahawks joke that it should be renamed "Tell the Truth to Certain People," because Wilson seems exempt from criticism. only twice in his five years have the Seahawks finished in the top 10 in points scored. Sherman and the defense know the difference between very good quarterbacks and great ones.
It galls the defense to hear Wilson, ever positive, stand behind a podium and insist that the offense "made some great plays" after games in which the Seahawks barely score -- and then be propped up as if he were Aaron Rodgers.

"Guys want Pete to call out Russ in front of the team," Smith says.

I would be mad too if I lost a Super Bowl the way Seattle did. It looks like there is a lot of conflict behind the scenes between Carroll + Wilson vs the rest of the team. Wilson is not respected and is not a leader for Seattle. Interesting read. Of course ESPN defends Wilson and the call Carroll made on the one yard line during the Super Bowl.

The call gets shite on way too much. That was the first pass all season from one yard out to be intercepted, it took an amazing play by both Browner and Butler to pull off, and people forget that year Lynch wasn't really the best goalline back.

I personally would have run it, but it's a pretty defensible playcall.

Sherman's tired of the favoritism. Don't blame him.

The biggest travesty of that play is Brady won the Superbowl MVP instead of Butler.

It gets shite on by people who don't know football. Call wasn't bad at all, Pats just had a great play. shite happens.

Passing was fine, but that pass in traffic was a really bad call IMO.

I don't blame any players for that play, Butler made a great play, not sure what Sherman expected Wilson to do on that.

I wasn't surprised they tried to pass, I was surprised it wasn't a bootleg pass option with instructions if nothing is there, throw it away.

Brady had the most completions in Super Bowl history and led (at the time) the largest 4th quarter comeback in Super Bowl history. It would've been cool for Butler to get it, but let's not exaggerate, That's far from a travesty

This. I had no problem with throwing the ball, but they should have ran the same/similar play that got them an easy TD in the third quarter.

All great, but that single play made Brady the goat vs Brady the 3x loser

Second and goal at the one with 27 seconds left in the game and they had a timeout. Lynch just gashed NE to get down to the one yard line. He was the best goal line back in the NFL that year. Seattle should have ran the ball on second down. It would have been a touchdown. If he did get stuffed they had a timeout. They could have passed on 3rd or 4th down. On fourth down, if still on the one, I would have spread them out and ran a draw to Lynch. With the Super Bowl on the line you want the ball in the hands of your best player. Seattle did not do that and they lost.

I thought the same.

The whole defensive side of the ball in Seattle get the vibe that Russell Wilson can do no wrong in the eyes of the coaching staff.

I love the segments where Russillo would play Wilson PC clips and do a running commentary

The two biggest cliche machines in the NFL are Wilson and Osweiler

If Brady doesn't do the comeback in the first place then that play is irrelevant

Also Brandon browner deserves a lot of the credit for Butlers play. He's the one that pointed it out and jammed the WR enough to displace the pick play and allow Butler to undercut the route.

It is when you had Marshawn Lynch on the team.

Holy hindsight, Batman.
