as an OU fan living in nola, i'm selfishly on board with this.

This is probably a decent selling point for Tulane, NOLA is a great place to visit in October, south of I-10 October to December is perfect drinking weather

Why do you think Vanderbilt is in the SEC?
because it was a member in like 1902 and didn't completely give up on sports to the point where it would drop out like Tulane or Sewanee

Rutgers even thought it doesn't have a big winning history is more valuable to the big 10 than Tulane will ever be to the big 12. Rutgers offers an entry into the largest media market in the country. If Rutgers wins they get attention in New York's media market. 12-0 Rutgers will get so much more national media attention than 12-0 Tulane.

Even if they are not good, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska coming to NJ to play Rutgers is good publicity in the number 1 media market in the country.

Tulane blew it by voluntarily leaving the SEC let them wallow in their crapulence.

Idk why but this notion is cracking me up. Tulane would vr a better fit with the big east than the big 12.

The AAC is the Big East, basically. The basketball-only Catholic schools took the name with them and the football schools became the AAC.

I've always thought selling the Big East name to the Catholic schools was one of the dumbest things they did when they formed the AAC. When you are struggling to keep up w/the other big conferences the last thing you should do is give away a brand name that has some cache. Even if they had practically a new lineup Joe Shmoe Casual would still hear the name Big East and associate it with solid athletics.

Then they compounded things by going w/a totally generic new name in the American Athletic which you can't even use an abbreviation for b/c it's too close to the ACC.

Agree. They should have kept the name. The other schools should be the Catholic League.
