He ain't going anywhere.

quote:

Now that Adrian Peterson has been reinstated by the NFL, it will be interesting to see if he is successful in his quest to force his way out of Minnesota. Given the terms of his current contract and the value the Vikings want in return, Peterson may be stuck.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Vikings would be seeking “at least” a first-round pick and “more compensation” if they were to deal Peterson. In addition to the first-rounder, Caplan says Minnesota would want a starting cornerback.

The Vikings consider cornerback to be their greatest position of need, and they believe they could draft a starting corner in the second round. In other words, they are looking for either a first-round pick plus a viable starting corner or a first-round pick and a second-round pick.

Unless Peterson is willing to restructure his contract with a new team, we highly doubt that is going to happen. Peterson is set to count a whopping $12.75 million against the salary cap next season and still has nearly $50 million remaining on his contract through 2017. Would a team really be willing to give up a first-round pick and a second-round pick to take on a 30-year-old running back that is the highest-paid player at his position?

We know at least one NFL team that Peterson would likely be willing to take less money with. And Peterson’s agent made it very clear with some recent remarks that AP wants a fresh start. At this point, the price just makes it seem unrealistic.

As much as I want AD on the Cowboys, that is an absurd price for him. Hopefully we don't do something this stupid.

They could get the 1st Rd pick... But they want a starting CB on top of that?

ain't gonna happen.

Probably just being greedy and asking for a lot right now to see what kinda feedback they get from teams interested in AP.

But getting a 1st rounder for AP should be enough IMO. Yes he's awesome but he's 30years old, has a massive cap hit and salary, and doesn't wanna be in Minnesota.

Take the 1st RD pick and say goodbye to AP.

A first round pick for a 30 year old RB? Even that's too much

I'm not so sure they could get a first rounder for him.

They don't want to trade him. They're basically saying if they even entertained the thought that's what it'd take.

Oh I agree it's still a large asking price for AP.

But they will get a 1st RD for him. Hell, some NFL FO people have said his value is a 1st rounder and two 2nd round picks. Cardinals would give Minnesota their 1st round pick for AP. So would a few other teams.

What is everyone laughing at? They are setting an absurd price because they don't want to trade him. They hold all the cards in this situation. They are telling him publicly that he will be their RB.

I just don't understand how last year the team places him on some special exempt list because he's such a terrible child abuser, and now they're like 'oh we were just joking'. Either he's a shitty human that you don't want on your team or he's not. How can Peterson play for a bunch of guys that threw him under the bus?

Vikings don't have much to gain by trading Peterson. Let him pout, he won't miss out on his 12 million dollar pay checks, he'll play for the Vikings

I don't know why everyone is mocking them for their price tag. It's basically "were not moving him unless we get a godfather offer" which is reasonable
