I know Bron is 3-4 in the Finals. No question MJ is GOAT unless Bron just keeps winning titles. Everyone brings up the Finals record comparison being that MJ is 6-0. My question is being that Bron basically had no shot of winning in 07 vs Spurs and last year vs GS, would he be viewed better as being 3-2 in the Finals had he not even gotten there just to lose to superior teams? Even the Spurs in 2014 were a machine that his Miami team were not going to defeat. In my opinion, the Dallas series is his only legit defeat. I know that's not how it works, but it seems as if he gets penalized for getting there and losing making his Finals record sub par.

I don't get this part of the MJ/Lebron debate. If MJ got to the finals 4 times and lost in the 80s and was 6-4, would that make his career less impressive?

No, because those stupid arse points wouldn't be made against Lebron anymore.

Exactly. He lost in the East semis and East Finals throughout the last half of the 80's, but because he didn't get to the Finals and lose, it somehow doesn't count against him?!

The east is weak as all get out lately. Winning the east is about as hard as making it to the second rd in the west in recent memory.

I do think the fact the East has been a cakewalk after the Celtics got old plays into the narrative a bit.

Typed this before Boom's post above, didn't mean to be repetitive.

The East wasn't great during Jordan's prime either. Boston was old. Detroit was old.

I think the comparison is the East in the late 80s when MJ didn't make the finals. It was very strong then, hence he's not penalized in people's eyes.

Those reggie Miller pacers were much better than anything we've seen in the east lately outside of the cavs/heat.

Didn't LeBron lose in the playoffs all expect for 1 year before going to Miami?

You mean those Pacers teams that won 50+ games just three times in the 90s?

Answer: people that hold the 07 loss and '15 loss against him are idiots

How many times has Lebron lost in the 1st round? What about MJ?

The biggest knock on Lebron when trying to separate him from Jordan IMO is the 2011 finals where he just didn't get off the plane. Jordan never had a finals like that. Other than 2011 Lebron has been incredible.

Yea other than 2011 he's been legit. I guess it just bothers me that he's 3-4 and people swear he's not top 5 minimum based on a record that is team related.

The old pacers were like the Hawks of today

Actually I think the 2013 Pacers are the best (non-lebron) East team since 2011 so I give Lebron credit for beating them in 7 after I thought for sure they were about to lose.
