Aren't the play-in games between the teams that are basically the teams that didn't quite make the actual bracket to see who can earn a place to get in? I see that two of the play-in games result in a No. 16 seed.....which makes sense to me. But how come the winners of the other two play-in games get an 11 seed? Anybody know the logic behind this?

I've always thought that was bullshite too. You go on a run and win your conference tourney to make the big dance and get rewarded by playing a game on Tuesday just for the right to get shitcanned by #1.

They didn't want to eliminate the # of at-large bids when new conferences emerged. I believe it went to 65 when the Mountain West was created, and I'm not sure but I would assume that there are 3 other auto bids now.

Saw it explained this way the other day. Basically everybody lower than an 11 seed is an automatic qualifier that based on resume alone isn't good enough to get into the tournament. The 11 seed play in games are for teams that were on the bubble but they are better than the teams that won some small conference.

you'd have a new one for the American... i think the 16 seed play-ins are bullshite... 2 of those teams earned their automatic bids on the court and won't get to go to the real tourney

now the last at-large team play-ins, i like.

I think if it was truly about money, Texas would be playing UCLA like they should tonight and it wouldn't be on ghetto TruTV.

Tuesday and Wednesday are crap. You are a junkie if you watched after halftime last night even though it was a hell of a comeback.
