To move on from his contract and get his replacement, they essentially traded:

21 Million Dollars
2nd Round Pick
2 1st Round Picks.

Goddamn. What a disaster that was for them.

I wonder at what point did Osweiler realize he was garbage. I assume it was somewhere around week 6 when he reflected on the fact that they allowed him to throw a pass greater than 10 yards only once a game.

Osweiller is not a great QB, but he's not as bad as he looked in Houston either. He was a horrible fit and may flourish in another system. He did okay in Denver largely because Kubiak knows how to work with QBs like him.

In the end, it reminds me a lot of the Flynn situation in Seattle. Green Bay was a perfect system for him and he thrived there. He wasn't really a fit in Seattle and Oakland and so his signings were a bust.

Supposedly getting rid of him wasn't only just because how bad he sucked, the relationship between him and O'Brien was so bad it was beyond repair and he was becoming a locker room cancer. I've heard from some insiders that even if they didn't trade him there was a strong chance they would have cut him and ate his salary.

Bill O'Brien doesn't look like he's all that much fun to be coached by. In what I've seen he's pretty brutal on his QB's. I also recognize that he hasn't had much to work with, but still, he appears to be absolutely brutal on them.
