Ovechkin going to sit out the All-Star Game

WASHINGTON -- Forward Alex Ovechkin will miss the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game in Nashville on Sunday because of a lower-body injury, the Washington Capitals said Wednesday.
"This was a hard decision, but we talk about it, coaching staff, trainers, and we tried to battle through it, but it's stayed the same," Ovechkin said after Washington's 4-3 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers at Verizon Center. "I have to get ready for the rest of the year, get healthy, and I think we have a good chance to have success and I want to be a part of it. I don't want to miss important things."
Ovechkin said the injury has been nagging him for most of the season, but he had hoped it would get better. When it didn't, the decision was made to preserve Ovechkin's long-term health in anticipation of a long run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Of course that's what he's going to say. That was deliberate.

And his replacement is Evgeny Kuznetsov who, honestly, has been the best skater on the Caps this season.

Byfuglien is competing in the fastest skater competition.

Crosby hatty. Amazing what a decent coach does for players. 14 goals in last 16 games.
45 points and climbing fast.
This is why you don't write off star players with bad coaches. So foolish. Aka Baloo.

Blues managed to sneak a goal at the end of the 3rd for a win.

Lost last night to the Flyers and should we take bets on how they lose to the Sabres tonight?
I am taking Eichel scores a backhanded goal while on his back top shelf in OT shorthanded -140 on the ML
That is how the season has gone so far.

Hey, look who came out of his two months of hiding!
I didn't write the Pens off, to quote me when the Pens fired their coach,
And then I pointed out the only way to come back is for Crosby to come out of the steep decline he was in. A natural hat trick is a good way to do that. The Pens have too much salary tied up in Crosby for him to be ordinary, they need him to be great. The past month, he's been great.
Now, say something nice about Ovechkin.

They've played like horse manure most of the year, but they still aren't that far out of a playoff spot if they get their stuff together.

I don't like the NHL's new website design.

Markov scored his first goal in 33 games. Little consolation for Habs fans, though.

I've posted a bit here and there (see the 7 page Wideman thread), takes a backseat to football for me but now everything is over and I cannot stand basketball.
But yeah, Sid is back and great again with a proper coach, and the help of a couple of great trades in getting Daley and Hagelin, mainly Daley.
Ovechkin is good, still hope he never wins a Cup sorry. If he can't this year then it may be never.

So who had giving up 3 goals in the 3rd to lose a 2-1 lead?
I swear this is worse than Vigneault. Fire the whole damn front office and bring in Keenan. Who cares if he can't speak French.

Never thought I'd hear you call for Spacely.

At this point I'd take Viktor Tikinoff
I know what you get for Mr Spaceley. 2 great years and 3 horrific rebuilds
But maybe he's learned how to not totally destroy a franchise
And neither did I. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

It's been real interesting if Hab and Leaf job would've been open at same time, where does Babcock go.
