Kobe talked about how much he modeled his game after MJ and wanted to excel at that level so it is not surprising there are similarities. Granted he ended up not being as good but my God he succeeded at a higher level than 99.99% of athletes could have

Yeah for all the great things that Kobe accomplished on the court I hope he somehow doesn't get forgotten in the folklore of NBA basketball. You wouldn't think with his career that would be possible but the peak of his career landed right in the middle of the MJ and Lebron eras.

So Kobe copied MJ's fade away ? Good for him. For Jordan it was an unguardable shot on par with the sky hook.
When it was falling there was nothing a defender could do to stop it.
It also made his first step that much better and opened himself up for driving past his defender.
