I can tell most people in this thread are only old enough to have seen from Moss on.

Prime Moss is tGOAT.

Calvin & Rice hold the top 2 single season receiving seasons in NFL history.

1,964 & 1,848.

Calvin also has the 9th best WR season in NFL history. He has 2 seasons better than Moss' best single season year, which falls 14th in NFL history.

Calvin at his peak is best of group. Rice had best career and was unstoppable, obviously. But if we're talking a WR for 1 game, it's Johnson. He leaves more room for error with the QB because of his physical attributes.

From a talent perspective, it's Moss, Megatron then Rice. From a work ethic perspective it's Rice...........Megatron...........Moss.

Rice & Moss both came from small, poor rural country towns the difference was that Rice's father was there for him, Moss' wasn't. Rice's dad was a brick mason who forced Jerry to work with him at an early age in the summer months.

Moss was influenced by Rand U (30 For 30 reference) which explains his lackadaisical attitude towards game preparation & working out early in his career. Had Moss taken the profession of football more seriously earlier in his career maybe he puts up even better numbers & has a longer career.

Megatron has had the talent & work ethic but he has battled injuries more than I recall Rice & Moss battling with in their careers. He also has played with an inconsistent QB in Matthew Stafford who thinks he knows it all & refuses to be open to coaching that would help him perfect his craft.

Depending on what my offense was. But I think Rice is probably the one and then TO.

If I was like the old 60-80's Raiders its Moss and Johnson.

Rice. Pure talent: moss. But Rice was a better player.

The great thing about Rice is that he always got himself open, and this was at a time when CBs could jam you at the line. He broke on cuts so quick that even the best could not keep up with him. Then once he got the ball he made people miss. Yeah you couldn't send him on a go route and throw it up for him like with Moss or Calvin, but Rice moved the chains regularly.

You can throw a safety over top and limit Moss and to a degree Calvin. You bracket Rice and he still created enough space for you to get him the ball. If I was a QB I would take Rice because he makes my throws easier.

It's one thing to see highlights, another to see complete games.

Swann and Stallworth may be the best combo ever

They blew games open ran any route and made huge plays.

Rice and Taylor were the same class but it's close.

I really don't see how you can say that, other than the guy is a freakish athlete. He had 2 monster seasons, but the year he set the rec yardage record he only had 5 TDs. Rice led the league in rec yards 6 times and in TDs 6 times. Plus Rice's prime was way longer than either CJ or Moss.

he was tackled inside the 5yd line 8x that season. (and 14x total from 08-12')

You have to account for who was throwing to them. In Rice's case, 2 of the top 10 QBs of all time.

Removing that variable and just look at the WR for what they were, Calvin is hard to beat.
