Fun would not describe Syracuse student Kimberly Smith's encounter with Devendorf on Nov. 1, 2008, near campus. That's when Devendorf allegedly struck her in the jaw with an open hand (Smith's lawyer later said Devendorf did not hit her, and his client's version of the events was misconstrued on the police report). That incident got the Bay City, Mich., native briefly suspended and nearly ended his season.

My point is that he talks it when he shouldn't. It's not like he hits a huge shot with someone in his face and does it (not that that would make it right either). It's like you're guarding me and my guy drives and dishes to me. Nobody within ten feet of me and I hit the shot. And then I';m all up in your face talking crap. It's not like I schooled you. I did what most college players should be able to...hit an open shot.
