Predict the 16 baseball regional host teams.

With about a month left of the regular season, who do you think will host regionals.

I am hoping that LSU and ULL will both get to host this season. Both currently in the top 16 RPI

About 10 of them will be from the ACC/SEC

Then like one or two from the Big 12, one from the Pac 12, and 3 smaller schools.

Cajuns will probably need to win every series remaining, including at South AL to host and it would probably still be up in the air.

PAC 12 is in danger of having no hosts.

What do they base the seedings on? Is it highly based on the RPI or a cobination of polls?

Do you think they will let Minnesota host? Like, its probably still snowing in Minnesota in early June right?

I'll predict:

1) Gainesville
2) Coral Gables
3) Louisville
4) College Station
5) Lubbock (lost the series to Texas this weekend though)
6) Tallahassee
7) Santa Barbara
8) Columbia or Ft. Worth

9-16 in no order for pairings:

Ft. Worth or Columbia
Baton Rouge
Starkville
Minneapolis
Lafayette or Mobile
Houston (Rice)
Nashville
Berkeley or Raleigh

i'll be dead honest... i think they're going to artificially limit the SEC and ACC host sites, which will send some of those teams to travel as monster 2 seeds

4 ACC
4 SEC
1 XII
1 PAC
1 B1G
Creighton
Coastal
UCSB
Rice
ULL

I might look more into it soon and try to come up with a more educated prediction. One cool thing is that Coastal is joining the Fun Belt next year so there'll be 3 premier teams in the league now.

even having lost 2 of 3 to SoMiss all one run games.
I'm really surprised ( pleasantly so ) with the season. We have a favorable schedule rest of the way

over the course of the season no one team has really shown itself to be head and shoulders above the rest, much like this years basketball.
The regionals and Supers should be entertaining

Cajuns have a win over Rice and play Southern Miss on Tuesday. If they can win that game, they'd probably finish with a 2-2 record vs RPI top 25, currently have an impressive 12-8 record vs RPI top 100 which helps boost the hosting resume (LSU is 9-10 vs RPI top 100).

The more I look at it, the less likely I think it is that USA hosts. They lost 2 of 3 to App State and lost Friday's game against Southern and their RPI plummeted to 33.

Cajuns have more top 100 opportunities coming up to strengthen their resume, Southern Miss, La Tech this week. UTA is this weekend and they're just outside the top 100, possible that they may sneak in.

3 games in two weeks at home against App State will be an RPI drain (245 rpi) so we can't drop any of those. The following week is 1 at New Orleans and 3 at USA which gives us 4 more top-50 RPI games in all likelihood unless UNO falls out.

Southeastern is at 56 right now. Hopefully they can get into the top 50 which would give the Cajuns an additional 2 wins.

App State and ULM are the only bad games left on the schedule. If the Cajuns finish strong, I think they're a very strong host team.

I don't see either the Cajuns or S Alabama hosting. Cajuns have a fat RPI but it's from that largely avoided bad teams, not beating good ones. S Alabama's is too low to host.
Rice or USM will probably host.

Disagree, as stated above. 12-8 record vs RPI top 100 so far with several games remaining vs top 50 or 100 teams left. If they win the series vs USA and beat USM, they'd have a really good shot at being a host.

They're no lock so they can't do stupid shite like drop games against App State and ULM but if we're just going off of data so far, the Cajuns have a stronger hosting resume than USM and it's very debatable with Rice (losing record vs top 50 but 9-1 against 50-100).

Cajuns - UNOFFICIAL RPI - 12; SOS - 16; RECORD VS TOP 100 - 12-8
USM - UNOFFICIAL RPI - 19; SOS 47; RECORD VS TOP 100 - 13-9
Rice - UNOFFICIAL RPI 18; SOS 14; RECORD VS TOP 100 - 15-9

Cajuns and USM play an interesting game on Tuesday.

You can probably take out Lubbock and Santa Barbara out of national seed convo. USCB got swept this weekend. Cal got swept this weekend as well. The mighty west looks pretty bad this season.
