His lawyer is probably already filing the paperwork for a lawsuit.

No way they are going to just let 40+ million go.

They are hoping for a settlement for way less with a minimal amount of discovery.

I'm not sure Pitino wants to get deposed in this.

Proceeding on this lawsuit is disadvantageous for both sides bc of the discovery process as pertains to Pitino and what he may reveal in depositions that would hurt Louisville from the NCAA standpoint but basically destroy his case bc it's wrongful termination breach of contract lawsuit, it's lose-lose I agree with you they're clearly attempting to trigger a settlement.

My take is this: whether the firing was "with cause" or not is irrelevant. Pitino has done dirty things in the past and he knows it, and the Louisville athletic department has done dirty things in the past and they know it, and each side knows where the other's bodies are buried. The absolute last thing either side needs is to go into a court of law and have to start telling the truth about stuff. Neither side is very good at it and it would get ugly for both sides.

They all need to get together like grownups and lock themselves in a room and not come out until a settlement is reached that pays Pitino somewhere between $0 and $44 million to make it all go away.

Vitale's mouth is another place that Pitino's penis showed up where it's not supposed to be.

Louisville wants no part of legal discovery here. Loses either way. And Pitino, the slime ball, knows this.

Yeah, just had to wait for the contract time to pass. He's sue, and lose.

I love how people say this. I suppose it would be the same for you with Arkansas State.

I'm not happy about any of this. It's very embarrassing for the entire state. I mean UL reaps what they sow, but the last 15 years of Louisville sports has been a huge black eye for the state of Kentucky. I don't take any pleasure in that at all.

You have Calipari as your coach and you are ashamed of other schools? Pot meet kettle

You really can't be serious with this when you have (had) Jurich, Pitino and Petrino all together at UL and the multitude of scandals from the athletics dept to the president's office.

Please open your eyes. I get that you are a fan, but at least open your eyes a bit to see what is happening at UL. It's a huge black eye for our state.

I heard on 103.7 the game that UL offered to pay a little over a million into Pitino's dead son's charity instead of the $40 million.
