Torn MCL, fractured tibia.

As the rule stands currently? Legal play, not overly dirty, not intentional.

How do you prevent that though? Change the proximity to base for those slides? Require the slide to be sooner and/or lower or face suspension and fine?

Leave it as is?

That angle from behind isn't straight on and probably makes it looks worse than it really is...and baseball purist guy will probably say I'm an idiot...but, I hate that play right there. I think the guy's legs should have to be more on a line with the base path. I can see if you're rounding the bases how you have to come from that angle, but not a slide. The entire purpose of that play is to plow the guy, which is asking for injuries like this.

If the fielder is in the baseline like Kang was then its fair game IMO

Kang did a great job of getting out of the way of the baseline. If the runner just goes straight on, the play develops like it should.

Get out of the base path if you don't want injured.

You're kidding, right?

You realize the base path is bigger than the width of the base, right?

Which gif were you watching? He was clearly out of the vase path. In fact, it look like the runner clips him intentionally.

that slide should be illegal. he isnt even attempting to slide into the bag, if Kang wasnt there his leg ends up about 2 or 3 feet right of second base.

this is seriously an archaic rule thats days are numbered

the only reason it is still legal is baseball "purists"

These two are obviously trolling. No other explanation besides being blind.

Absofrickinglutely. It's chickenshit that you can take a dude out like that. All to break up a doubleplay in a 162 game season. Protect the players.

That baserunner should be forced to take that slidetackle from Pacmam and then he should have to slam Pacman's head into a football helmet. Let the dirty players have with with each other, last person standing wins.

You can argue against the rule, but there is nothing dirty about it. The Pirates even accept that it was a good, hard slide on a baseball play.

Link? The runner swings his legs out to hit Kang.

Absolutely this. Hopefully that Cubs player (and the other 90% of baseball who does this) receives a fastball to the head for that shite.
