It goes back to the old question, "Who would you pick to lead a franchise knowing what you know now?". The answer has to be MJ.

To lead a franchise?

I take Jordan then Lebron then Kobe.

Might even squeeZe shaq ahead of Lebron and kobe.

Reading through both articles, Phil basically says MJ was better and more efficient offensively. Could handle the ball better, etc. Was physically stronger. Was a better teammate and leader. And was better defensively.

But other than that...

All I really took from the book was Phil is going to come back and coach Lebron so he can write another book.

Did I read too much into it?

Did I even read the book?.....no.

This makes Phil sound like a little bitch. Was he not speaking with Kobe AT ALL during that time?

At least PJ pretty much admits he was in the wrong on that.

MJ no question, probably Lebron #2 if he continues to play at his present level for another four years

Shaq would give you a better 10 year period than maybe anyone but his laziness and self-centered behavior towards the end of his career are just as destructive as Kobe's self-centered behavior was in the first half of his career... so I dunno who I'd take third really

The interesting thing about that to me is it implies PJ thought Kobe was guilty of rape.

I'm sure Jordan would've been the same way in that scenario.

Kobe and Jordan both have always played like they have chips on their shoulders. No doubt Jordan would have said something similar to Dr J or something and probably has. Jordan was known for being one of the biggest trash talkers ever to play.

I agree about you about the buddy buddy way things are now. I want some good rivalries. I think that's why the Bulls and Heat series was fun even though it was fairly lopsided. It almost reminded me of the Bulls and Pistons of the 90s.

Seems like he doesn't now...or even when he came back

Why not just hash it out instead of letting it affect your coaching? But again...he admitted he was wrong so...

I so wish the NBA would have another decade long rivalry like this one. Two polar opposite superstars that for a good portion of their careers frickING HATED each other and just so happened to play for the best teams in the league.

MJ and Larry were known to talk trash to each other but when he was a rookie MJ looked up to Dr J a lot so that's why I used him in comparison to MJ and Kobe.

What I was thinking. If they had a good relationship and were talking you'd think he'd back up kobe when someone called him a rapist.

Say what you want, but Fisher,Gasol,Odom and Artest would've taken a bullet for the new Kobe.

More like would have given him a bullet. I don't think any of his teammates even like the guy as a person. He might be GJOAT-greatest jerk of all time.
