PGA Events to Attend in 2016

I want to go to a few different PGA events this year. So far the only one that is for sure is a practice round at the Master's. The Shell Houston open is possible but would be tough due to Monday's practice round at Augusta. Also the Zurich classic is one I'd like to hit since it's close. Anybody have any recommendations for tournys they've been to? Matchplay in Austin? Phoenix Open, Byron Nelson in Dallas, Colonial in Dallas, Fedex St. Jude in Memphis, Wyndham in NC, or Tour Championship in GA are some of the others I was thinking about.

Wells Fargo in Charlotte is fun. The "green mile" is a fun final 3 hole finish

This is the first year for the match play in Austin. I have tickets for that, and I'll probably end up at the Masters, and the Tour Championship as well.
As far as preferences go, it depends on what type of crowd you want to be around. Phoenix will be pretty obnoxious, but if you like that sort of thing I'm sure it's a blast. St. Jude is probably going to have one of its weakest fields ever this year, and it's normally not incredibly strong. Wyndham probably won't have a strong field either. Colonial and Byron Nelson would be fine. As far as the Zurich goes, I think it will have its strongest field ever.
It's all about travel, and preferences though. Sorry for not keeping the recommendations short. I know that's a lot to read.

I've been to the Zurich and the Shell Open. In the past the Zurich has had some great fields but it has tapered off recently. I how Dawgsontop is correct in saying that it should be better this year. The Shell was cool because many big names are tuning up for the Masters.
My advice would be to make a Thursday or Friday round because the crowds are smaller, so you can get closer views of the players and even the best miss a few cuts every now and then. Catching them before the cut line guarantees you can see your guys.

What are you looking for at the tournament? Atmosphere, nice golf courses, cities?
But no matter what, go to Phoenix. Everybody should do it once

I've been to The Players at Sawgrass about 3 times now. It is always a great event. You can get a week's pass for about $150. Airport is easy to get in and out of, and hotels are easy to find. The Jax Beach and Ponte Vedra area is a nice place to spend a few days.

I'm headed up to Oakmont with my dad to catch the US Open. It's a historic venue and I'm excited to get up there and experience it for the first time.

ideally all of the above but city and atmosphere, I figure all of the courses will be pretty nice

I thought they were playing the Wyndam at another course. They are getting Quayl Hallow ready for the upcoming PGA championships they will host in 2 years.
I agree going to Oakmont for the US Open, that venue would be sweet to see. Also, what about the Waste Management? That would be an awesome on to go to.

Depending on your age and how much you like to party I've heard Phoenix is fun. Probably isn't for everyone though

The Memorial in Columbus, Ohio is a really good time, classy high level event and always draws a great field since its Jack's tournament.

Not a PGA Tour Event, but the WGC Cadillac @ Trump's place in Doral is awesome because you get almost the entire Top 50 players in Miami in a limited field.
Not only that, Miami is not exactly a hardcore golf city as far as fans go, so you can usually get close and rub elbows with all of the best players. Crowds are usually smaller so you don't have to deal with large galleries.

I've only been to two--The Zurich Classic about four times and I've been the the Waste Management Phoenix Open once (last year). The Waste Management is a lot of fun and it's in Phoenix, which I like.
