I agree with you, but everyone loyal to Penn State is a victim. These current students were between age 4 and 8 in 1998, etc and are still kids. They are misguided, but will come to get it...hard for them handle still, that this has happened at their great school.
You're very generous, I don't consider anyone but the boys who were molested as victims.
Also, having the original protest or whatever it was the night all crap hit the fan was misguided. This current vigil of the statue after everything that has come out is beyond that- its insane.

This is a completely reasonable post.

This is pretty much what I'm talking about in that their fans need to be knocked back to Earth. The Death Penalty is the only way to do this.
It is the height of irresponsibleness to punish someone because you don't like the way they react to a situation.
I don't think the NCAA should step in but at least the argument for "lack of institutional control" has merit IMO.
If you could at least statistically show that it's a large majority of Penn Sters acting this way then MAYBE it would have some traction but you don't know that. You just want to punish an entire school bc of what might be a vocal minority.

Who gives a shite how the fans react, the punishment should be for the powers at Penn State allowing this to happen over a decade.

Those two statements contradict each other.

The person I was responding to obviously cares how fans react it was his reason for giving the death penalty to Penn St. Try and keep up.

No, not at all.

And I was agreeing with you that that guy is wanting death penalty for the wrong reasons.

Who decides on and enforces LOIC?
If you think claims of LOIC have merit, who else but the NCAA should be involved?

Just because I think an argument has "merit" doesn't mean I accept it over any and all other considerations.
So when I say the LOIC is a better argument for punishing than fan reaction I haven't backed myself into a corner of having to accept the NCAA using the death penalty as the right thing to do.

I didn't say you said that. You said you don't think the NCAA should be involved. To say you think that LOIC has merit means you think the NCAA needs to be involved, at least to investigate.

This is disgusting and disturbing.
These people have lost their collective minds over this topic. The cognitive dissonance reeks of cult like brainwashing.
DP the football program. Take down the statue and scrub Joe Pa's name from campus.
begin the healing process, by not keeping idols to a pedo enabler on campus.

Maybe they will all literally drink the kool-aid and we won't have to deal w them anymore
I'm sure it's been said, but if they want to avoid the death penalty, this is not the way to stay low key
fricking despicable human beings and now I truly hope for the worst possible resolution for that university

You can keep saying that but it doesn't make it true.
You are taking me comparing two different arguments for applying the death penalty and somehow arriving at the conclusion that it means I must at least want the NCAA to investigate.
Regardless of what you think my statement meant, let my clarify for you my position.
Punish those involved by using the criminal justice system not the NCAA by-laws which can't effectively regulate how many jellies players are allowed to have at team meetings during breakfast.

True or false, you think that there is a case to be made concerning LOIC.
When you answer true, you have to realize that the only entity that can investigate that is the NCAA. If not them, who?

but it validates the point i've been bringing up all along and lsugrrrl so very well explained the other night on the penn state identity being so wrapped up in joe paterno....
the only way to break the cult is the death penalty...
I don't know about that. Could back fire and make them martyrs...

However, I'm also surprised and disappointed by the defiance the vocal minority continue to display.
This is what I don't get--that people are surprised by the vocal minority that cling to conspiracy theories and falsehoods.
Why would anyone be surprised by this sort of action or conduct from people in a groupthink situation?
I mean, come on, look at the political landscape in America today...

There are a few people here who do not think anything should happen to Penn St because it wasn't a "school" issue. These people should just be ignored because they are either getting money from PSU or they have their heads stuck up someones arse.
