Both underachieving teams fired their coaches early in the season to make it to the 8th seed in the playoffs. Can the Lakers follow suit?

Wait, the Kings fired their coach less than a season removed from a Stanley Cup title?

I heard a rumor that the Kings and Lakers play in the same arena.

No comparison. The Kings were a great defensive team all year that lost a bunch of 2-1 games and the offense clicked by adding guys. They didn't just suddenly become better like Laker fans are hoping for.

These is a similarity. The Lakers have only been completely healthy 1 game this season.

If Kobe, Gasol, and Hill can come back healthy and in game shape for the playoffs it could get interesting.

Also, it is not uncommon for lower seeded teams to make runs to the Stanley Cup Finals, due to the fairly random nature of goal scoring, and low scoring totals in hockey. Upsets in the NBA beyond one or two seed lines are pretty rare, and lower seeded teams rarely even make the NBA Finals, much less win it.

So... no. No similarities. Unless the Lakers have a hot goalie they are stashing on the roster.

The kings are currently a 4 seed and would be third if the nhl didnt give the top 3 seeds to the division leaders. They have done tgis with injuries to 3 of their top 4 defensemen. They haven't disappointed
