CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX Carolina) -
Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is footing the bill for every team employee to take a trip to California to watch the Panthers play in Super Bowl 50, according to FOX Sports.

FOX Sports 1 reporter Alex Marvis took to Twitter with the news on Monday.

“Panthers president Danny Morrison said team owner Jerry Richardson is taking every employee from interns up to Super Bowl 50,” the tweet read.

The Panthers will play Denver in the big game on Feb. 7.

The Washington Post reported that Richardson made the same kind offer in the team's first and only other Super Bowl bid in 2004. More than 550 employees traveled to see the Panthers play the Patriots at the owner's expense for Super Bowl XXXVIII.

The team heads into the Super Bowl with a 15-1 record. Their only loss this season came in the Panthers' second meeting with the Atlanta Falcons on Dec. 27, 2015.

Could imagine the reaction from the guy who cleans the stadium's toilets when he was surprised with two tickets, plane tickets, and a hotel room for free to SB50?

and, of course, tickets to the game against the New England Patriots

Are they going back in time to 2004?

My bad. That is what I get for not proofreading and posting the wrong story.

This goes completely against the public narrative of him. Everything ive ever read said he was a horrible owner and employer. Guess not.

Perhaps he is just making up for his prior transgressions. While this is a pretty cool thing to do, it doesn't necessarily make him a great owner/employer.

That being said, props to him for this gesture.

The Broncos have done this every time they made a super bowl and haven't sought attention for it

Possibly.

This is true, and i'd be curious to know how many owners do stuff like this.

Not according to what I've read. Apparently, the '96 Packers were the only other team to do something like this. But, I don't want this thread to turn into a "the organization that I support is better than the organization you support". I just thought it was a cool gesture and wanted to make a thread about it.

ETA: But I do see the tweet by some guy saying that the Broncos are doing the same thing for SB50, so good move by them if true.

He may not necessarily be employed by the Panthers. I would very shocked if gameday employees were included in that since a lot of them are private security (CSC).

was curious about this so I just searched for panthers jobs. Looks like all the ticket takers, elevator guys, ect... are in the organization and make $10/hr = no way they could afford SB tickets so I'll bet they freaked out. You're probably righta bout security and custodial staff though.

Understood, but this is the proper thread for this anecdote. Tom Benson bought every Saints employee a SB Ring. A coworker at my previous job was the guy in the Sir Saint suit (mascot). He wore his ring to work several times and let people take pictures with it and such. It was probably not full of the same quality of diamonds a Drew Brees' ring, but it was still cool.

If the guy in the mascot suit got a ring......... EVERYBODY got one.

Both are cool gestures. Not sure which I would prefer.

I doubt they are full time employees.

Eta: I read earlier where he was taking all full time employees plus 1 guest each. Did it last time they were in the super bowl too.

He is the damn owner of the Carolina Panther. Their team is in the Super Bowl. Why is this even a thing? They SHOULD all be their, why would they not be?
