Typical white guilt BS. God forbid a white person says something profane or racist, off with their head. Black person says the same thing except about crackers or honkeys or happens to slap a female around its swept under the rug or a slap on the wrist.

Complete truth there.

A kid's life was destroyed by a single video. Seems a bit much, IMO, but my opinion doesn't matter.

You seem to miss the point. Athletes get away with everything because all we care about is winning.

Personally, I think we pay too much attention to sports and athletes, but that's likely an unpopular opinion on the MSB.

They need to do some of those riveting anti violence commercials like the NFL did to show how much they actually do care

I think the idea of obsessing over recruiting 365 days a year is super creepy and that is probably blasphemy to like 90% of this website

So when did The OU president all of a sudden start hating second chances? This is what he said when he decided to take zero action against the football player that punched a woman and broke her jaw and eye socket

quote:

"The judicial outcome and the video speak for themselves," Oklahoma President David L. Boren said. "The University is an educational institution, which always sets high standards that we hope will be upheld by our students. We hope that our students will all learn from those standards, but at the same time, we believe in second chances so that our students can learn and grow from life's experiences."

I could understand a consistent, hardlined stance. It may be extreme, but at least it shows principles. Both acts are deplorable, but violence is worse than bigoted words. Although I don't have a major problem with the punishment of the frat guys, this inconsistency is too problematic to ignore.

Truth. I hope everyone reads that.

Meh. This has more to do with athletes not being responsible for theIr actions

So here we have two acts of physical violence -- one against a fellow OU student -- that didn't cause expulsion from campus -- indeed, DGB was actually admitted after his alleged act of violence against another student -- and I haven't heard Oklahoma president David Boren explain why these situations are different. If Sooners are people "who respect each other and care about each other," wouldn't punching a female Sooner be worse than saying something bad about a group of them?

this is one of those 'you might be a racist if" comments

I'm not sure how to take that any other way, to be honest. Some white dudes make some shitty remarks and you manage to turn that into something against black people for being allowed to do the same. Pretty amazing.
