OKC is not a good place for a NBA team

Why the NBA allowed the sonics to leave is tragic. Seattle is a great city and it was the only winter sport in town. Oklahoma City is not NBA quality for the lifestyle that professional athletes want and need.NBA players want to be in a quality city and it has to do with more than weather.
If you're a basketball player there are a lot more cities that offer things pro basketball players want. What is there in Oklahoma City? Even New Orleans has things that make it attractive to NBA players. Even Detroit as home to Motown and the largest black city in America offers things that a Oklahoma City cannot. Minneapolis though pretty white was home to Prince and offers a more diverse and culturally appropriate venue for ball players. Milwaukee is borderline acceptable but Kareem left. Cleveland is a better city than Oklahoma City.
Any larger Northeastern and Midwestern city like Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Minneapolis offers more than OKC.

It was a weird move.
Seattle has a population the same as OKC but OKC is not nearly as affluent.
They seem to have great fans and they will rally around their team and their remaining A lister with KD leaving but long term, it's gonna end up being a shitty franchise.
They are just gonna draft players and lose them as soon as they are unrestricted like so many other franchises.

Let's see if they keep showing up after a losing season with no superstar on the roster.

Yea I'm sure free agents decide where to go on what musicians originated from the city. Shut up.

Seattle is way bigger than OKC. It's not even close.

OKC is better than NOLA and Sacramento for NBA teams.
They support the team. You may not like how they got a team, but it was inevitable after how they embraced the Hornets after Katrina.

2010 census had Seattle at 608,000 and OKC at 610,000.
Is that close?

Not to mention that Seattle is part of the #14 media market while OKC is #45. They're basically the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NBA.

For the city itself, which is pretty irrelevant.
Metro area is not close. 3.3M vs. 1.2M in 2010

That surprised me when he said that. Was about to go look that up.

Exactly. Jacksonville has more people than San Fran.

If okc had won the finals a few years ago would you still be saying it's not a good place for a team? Seriously such a stupid post.

When I'm wrong, I say I am wrong. Seattle does double up OKC with adjoining municipalities factored in.

As a sonics fan I love KD leaving! They are just another Memphis now. Made some.noise but they are slowing disappearing from the NBA scene. Could not have happened to a better owner. Took out team now enjoy sucking until some other Oklahoma product becomes a big NBA player. Nobody wants to play there!

Thats not the metro area.
Seattle metro has about the same population as the entire state of Oklahoma.

San Antonio is home to the most successful NBA franchise of the last two decades. Sit down.
