OSU football games are bringing in hundreds of thousands of dollars, as fans are drinking up at home games. So far, sales in just the first three home games have brought in more than $412,000 in revenue, according to OSU spokesperson Benjamin Johnson.

How long will it be until teams break down the negative connotation of alcohol sales at NCAA sporting events? Especially with such large profits possible.

it shouldn't be too much longer. once you realize that you can pull in an extra million with 8 home games.

This is good news for LSU since we are pushing for a beer garden

Welcome to the club

Selling beer at WVU games has actually made the alcohol related incidents go down. Students are not leaving at halftime anymore to get more blitzed in the parking lot before coming back in.

We could beat that record. Since our roads are just long, thin parking lots after games, the odds of alcohol related driving deaths are pretty low as it is.

Is this throughout the stadium, or just the more exclusive areas?

UF started serving alcohol in a few areas, but you can't bring it to your seat.

There is some argument that people won't go as hard before the game if they have access to alcohol during it.

It's throughout the entire stadium. Well, I'm not positive if it's in the South Endzone(the open portion of the stadium) as that's mostly student section seating.

I'm amazed at the people that spend so much money on beer upon beer upon beer at a sporting event when they could probably get about 9 beers for what a single bottle costs at a game.

That's what happens when you're at a sporting event though. If you leave the stadium, there's no re-entry, so it's stay for an entire game sober or leave early to drink beer in the parking lot while watching the game on a TV. That is unless you're willing to shell out $$ for a beer while inside.

The article just references beer. I'm betting they would kill it selling liquor.

So 300K people have only spent 412K on beer? That seems really low to me. Beers are likely $8-12 a piece.

You'd probably get that from one home game in Tiger Stadium

You think that but there are a few things to consider.

1) It's expensive
2) A lot of people are hammered when they get to the game and use it as a chance to sober up a little
3) Logistics. The lines are long and people spend a lot of time away from the game which they do not like.

We talking a stadium filled the entire game? Or just through the half while fans are still in attendance?

Honestly, just the half would do. 100K, $10 a beer...I'd really expect at least a million bucks a game. No, everyone isn't going to have a beer. If half the people have 2 though, there you go.
