Who do you guys have in Game 6? The series has been entertaining to say the least. The team defense Boston has shown recently makes me thing the Celtics could close the door on Kobe's 5th title, but I keep thinking there's no way LA loses 3 straight games. Kobe and Co. will respond.

Other questions: Does Ray Allen wake up and hit a three pointer? (He's missed his last 17) Which Pau Gasol shows up? And can Pierce duplicate anything close to what he put up in Game 5?

Note: The 1988 Pistons and 1994 Knicks had 3-2 series leads when they went on the road to play Games 6 and 7. Both team lost the series.

My call: LA wins Game 6 by 8.

Head: 147-94 Lakers
Heart: 165-12 Lakers

Seriously though, Lakers 101-88

I think the Lakers will pull out game six, but expect the Celts to take game 7.

I like how TJ Simers described his game five performance:

quote:

"I just love Our Ball Hog when he puts on a one-man show like this, after all, this is only Sunday night entertainment unless you somehow think your life changes whether the Lakers win or not. He scored 23 straight points between the second and third quarters, many of them dancing off one leg and falling backward, the other guys on his team just running around and letting the Celtics score so he might shoot again. This was superstar basketball, almost a made-for-TV movie, one against five in a dramatic shootout. He scored the first 19 points in the third quarter for the Lakers, the Lakers down by 11 when he started ignoring the rest of his teammates and down by 11 when he had finished. Over the years it doesn't always mean the Lakers are going to win when Our Ball Hog loses sight of everyone else, but you've got to admit it's the best in basketball entertainment."

Probably worse than the last game. He had the knee drained before game 5 and the swelling hadn't returned yet.

Laker bench plays better at home

Bynum injured throw things up in the air

one rest day spent travelling doesn't help Boston at all

Lakers by 5

I agree. But I don't think the Lakers can beat the Celtics twice in a row without Bynum (or with an ineffective Bynum).

have to wonder what effect the kobe show from game 5 will have on the team. he literally played like he was giving a huge FU to his team and there has to be some fall out

one thing is for sure, the kobe vs MJ talk should be dying out because MJ would have delivered a win when he went into FU mode

the kobe vs MJ talk will definitely die if the Lakers lose this NBA Title

Or it will explode if he leads them to two straight victories while putting up gaudy numbers.

doubt it - people tend to deify the players who are great when they are in their teens and 20s - so all the fans who were too young to really remember MJ will still think Kobe as good or better

This is what everyone said after Kobe played terribly and the Lakers got blown out in 2008. I feel like we've come full circle. Hopefully the end result will be the same.

compare the playoff stats of MJ vs Kobe and it is laughable

not to mention MJ took two seasons off

the two seasons off thing I don't care about one way or the other

But MJs #s are way better than Kobe's - doesn't he have about the same # of 40 point playoff games as Kobe has 30 point playoff games?

Anyway, numbers aside MJ took his team to the finals and won 6 times - only Bill Russell has it over on him in that respect IMO
