saw this per the espn ticker.
What's a shame, on LOs part
They aren't releasing him, just inactivating him. So he's still a tradeable asset. If he is traded after June 29th, his contract is fully guaranteed (before that, a team can buy him out for 2.4M)
His lack of professionalism and toughness this year have been embarrassing really. I expected more from a 2x champion. I know he has endured a lot this past year, but you are still get paid extremely well to go do something you've excelled at for your whole life.
Hopefully he gets it together. Do the lakers trade for him again This off season?

Probably Cuban pays the $2.4M to buy out his contract then he'll go back with Aunt Esther to L.A.
Now he should convince Brittney Griner to turn pro (at least she comes to play every day).

Back to LA
I think he is finally going to play for Miami(again). No way the Lakers take him back. Although I wouldnt be surprised to see him in NY area.

Lamar has said he needs to live next to the beach. So it'll be Lakers, Clippers, or Heat. If none of them will take him, then I think he probably retires. But I think the Clippers could definitely use him.

Well WTF is his problem? I know a nice little beach on Lake Lewisville.

So to be clear, he cannot play again this season, right?

The Mavericks have placed him on the inactive roster. So unless they decide to do otherwise, he will not play again this season for the Mavericks. And they maintain his rights so he cannot go to another team this year.
Next year they can do any of the following:
1. Keep him and put him back on the active roster (not gonna happen).
2. Keep him on the inactive roster all next season (completely within their rights and would really screw him over in the process, but not gonna happen)
3. Attempt to trade him (won't get much for him at this point if you can even find a buyer).
4. Buy out his contract for $2.4 million (most likely option).
