Until last year, Sportsbook.com, owned by the U.K.'s Sportingbet PLC, offered $1 million for a perfect bracket. But then marketing director Alex Cjakowski decided to raise the stakes to $10 million. "I looked at it and said, this is never going to happen," he told me. "So let's have a big headline number." He added, "Next year, maybe I'll offer $100 million."

If every person on the planet where to fill out 10 MILLION brackets each, the odds are less than 1% that even one of them would have a perfect bracket.

For example Harvards win tonight:
5.6% out of 8.15 million brackets had Harvard winning

quote:

Just 5.6 percent of the 8.15 million Tournament Challenge brackets picked 14-seed Harvard to beat 3-seed New Mexico. The Crimson were the second-most-picked 14-seed to win (Davidson, which gave Marquette a scare, was picked in 14.3 percent of brackets). Meanwhile, New Mexico had been picked to reach the Sweet 16 in 19 percent of brackets and the Final Four in 9.1 percent of brackets.

and just like that...

With that result, the number of perfect brackets went from 26,300 (after the Missouri-Colorado State game) to 1,339.

It's more impressive being the few with a perfect bracket still.

A ton of people fill out dummy brackets or upset heavy brackets that aren't their real ones. That's where most of the 5.6% comes from.

It'll just be amazing how many people on TD picked Harvard in their bracket.

My bracket is currently in the top 300K.... That is doing work

I lost three games today and none of those three were sweet 16 bound... I don't understand how people pick perfect brackets... Has to be people who literally pick like 20-40 brackets

I don't think anyone has ever had a perfect bracket. Ever.
