The Cavs once traded Mo Williams to the Clippers for Baron Davis and the pick that became Kyrie

Boston overpaid. Boston still has a great roster loaded with young talent. Boston will also most likely have a Top-10 pick in the 2018 draft. Boston is fine.

The biggest problem is the fact they didn't aggressively pursue Jimmy.

Cleveland just gave their best scorer to their biggest threat in the east and it's a bad deal for Boston?

It's not even among the not lopsided trades of this off-season, but the Cavs did get much more value in the trade.

Yeah he made a big difference when Lebron kept going to the bench for a quick break during the finals.

The smart people mostly hate it for the Celtics.

do you remember game 4? Boston was up big at halftime and this was after shocking the world in game 3. Boston was looking like it was gonna steal 2 in clev and head back home tied 2-2. Kyrie absolutely went off in the 2nd half, it was insane, and clev won big.

Like who? Thomas was fantastic last year but he's about to get expensive and coming off a concerning injury. Kyrie sets them up to run the east when Lebron leaves.

It was 16 at one point. I was there and it was a very nervous crowd when LeBron went off after his 4th foul.

Thomas is a free agent after this year and said he wants the max.

This was a bad trade for Cleveland, not Boston. Boston got better.

Yeah, I think his hero ball style can be a problem, but Kyrie was a trick shot machine in games 3 and 4 and it should have been 2-2 if Cle hadn't taken the gaspipe at the end of game 3. I don't think there's any doubt they take a step back against GSW, but maybe this is better for the big picture/future.

IT is getting paid $6M this year, and is a UFA next year.

Kyrie is a max contract with two years left and a player option for year three.

If you think IT is just as good or a little worse than Kyrie, and you get Crowder/Nets 1st, them the Cavs won this deal. By a decent margin.

Both guys are elite scorers that don't play a lick of defense. Thomas is older and smaller. Neither are good enough to be the best player on a championship team.

For the 2017-18 season, absolutely. The big unknown is that nets pick. The 2018 class is loaded and if it ends up being a top 2 pick Cleveland might win the trade.

Boston has about 5 fewer projected wins above replacement than they did before the trade.
