Notable Players Cut in NFL This Year 2015

LINK What strikes me about this list is how short an NFL career is.
I wish the NFL and all of football would ban hitting and only allow tackling. The object of the game on defense is to stop the advancement of the football. But coaches and fans glorify hard hitting and trying to injure the players on offense. If hitting were to be eliminated players would play much longer. There would also be fewer injuries crippling players as they get older.
I realize this is not a popular position but the game is out of hand with life threatening injuries and the glorification of hitting a player who can't protect himself.

Or they could just fully guarantee contracts

I think even if they eliminated hitting, you would only see maybe a 2-3 year increase in age longevity. The reality is that the NFL is just a physically demanding sport. Guys go down with career ending injuries just from making a cut too hard. The only thing you would cut down on going from hitting to tackling is the amount of concussions. I think in the last 2-3 years, we've seen way more tackling and less hitting. Sure there are still those safeties that want to lay someone out, but most teams are focusing on wrapping up the ball carrier now a days.

Outside of a few of those players, many were just not that good and younger players who could be better are pushing them out.

Big hits should never be legislated out. They are important to the game.

What about blocking? Do you have to stand there and wait for someone to run into you like basketball? You're talking about a fundamental change in the game.

These players aren't getting cut because of the hard hits. They are getting cut because the team can get younger players for less money than these older players.

What do big hits have to do with cuts?
Your thread title and its content have nothing in common.

It's impossible to eliminate hitting.
At what point exactly does a tackle stop being a tackle and becomes a hit? Where do you draw the line?
The NFL has too many subjective rules as it is.

What is your definition of "hitting" vs "tackling"? Are you proposing that the ball carrier simply just stop when he reaches a defender so that the defender can "tackle" him and bring him to the ground?

you do realize these go hand in hand. you think you have injuries now... what the hell would happen to a 190lb DB when a 230lb RB is running at them and they have to wait on that guy b/c he can't hit him? Dude would get murdered by that RB... there would be a rash of chest and shoulder injuries... and more than likely an increase in concussions as well. You have to hit, its simple physics. The game would be a joke. Its not for pussies and you know what you are getting into when you start playing this game.

If you want to ban hitting then you need to force offensive players to stay completely upright and have their torso exposed for tackling

Why do people think players have to play a long time? It's not a career where you put in 20+ years and then retire. It's fast money where they can make a lot of money in a short period of time. They made good money for several years now it's time to move on.
