Well, someone had to pay for those "free" tickets, so the OB got its money.

NIU had to pay for their allotment of tickets regardless if they "sold out" or not. That's not the point I was trying to make.

NIU is still probably going to lose their arse on it, despite "selling out" all of their ticket allotment.

And this is a big deal for NIU so I would expect them to have a good showing of fans in Miami.

I had heard all of the MAC schools were helping distribute the tickets. So its not just NIU students, but the whole MAC.

That's awesome. And I think that a lot of Illinoisans (who aren't affiliated with the school) will be there

That's pretty sad that FSU can't sell their allotment to the fricking Orange Bowl.

It's pretty sad you don't understand basic economics. Why the frick would someone buy a $150 ticket when they can get it for $20.

There aren't just the 2 schools' tickets, those $2 stinging tickets are probably local tickets. It's not a 35000 seat stadium.

Exactly.

Florida State fans can just wait for next time. Especially if they're miffed by the matchup and think NIU is beneath them.

with the MAC commish's comments, this is likely what happened. easiest way to avoid NIU not losing its arse

It doesn't matter if they lose their arse anyway, they owe it to their players to send them.

So much more to say about that, but I believe if you make a bowl, you go, money shouldn't matter.

Lsu hasnt sold its allotment for a bowl game against a higher ranked opponent, lower face value ticket prices and about the same travel distance that fsu has.
