If you are playing a consolation game for 13th place do you feel like it mattered?

I'm not sure how I feel about them but think there is a reason no other sports leagues care about nostalgia over logic.

more football is fine with me

plus you always get a couple of wild ones. i would be adamantly against getting rid of bowl games just from an entertainment perspective and thats before we get into how valuable the money and extra practices are

I'm predicting a lot of down votes from LSU fans with the 13th place comment.

I actually think for your FBS conference gives you zero percent chance of making the playoffs you should be in a different class.

What kid wants to play 4 years with no chance at a title? What kind of mentality is that?

They play because they love the game and they play for a conference title. For teams in G5 conferences, that's the ultimate goal. Conference Championships mean a lot.

Then if they win their conference most G5 teams get the opportunity to play a P5 team in a bowl. That is a super bowl to those players.

Please get off your pedestal.

I'm not on a pedestal I'm asking why playing for 66th place is special in CFB but we make fun of the NIT tourney in basketball.

Once again, schools outside of the P5 don't make fun of the NIT.

A lot of non-P5 teams win their conference and then have to go on an opposing teams court for a conference tournament. They slip up and if there is no NIT, their season is over. All because some team caught a hot shooting streak during a four day tournament.

Practice time is one big reason. Another is the players get all sorts of gifts and stuff.

That was the case for 95% of the bowls before the playoff.

Agree, because no way a kid who plays for a non-P5 school would ever have a chance to play in the NFL. No use he even step on the field for Memphis, Marshall or Troy. Just a complete waste of time.

That makes zero sense. I'm saying they should have a path to at least win their way to a championship. Right now that's a dead end on the college level. I hope u were looking for a "slow clap" on that bs

Any game that doesn't result in the winning team receiving the national title is a consolation game.

The P5 really needs to split away and make their own division.

There should be 80 teams (16 teams per conference) competing for 8 spots in a final playoff. These 80 teams can only schedule games between themselves and are banned from scheduling outside of the P5.

But the division shouldn't be exclusive to the same 80 teams. You earn your way in and earn your stay in. If you aren't producing as of late (looking at teams like Kansas) you should be kicked back to the FBS and replaced by a team that is producing at a high level in the FBS (a team like a Boise State or BYU for example).

Take it from one buckeye to another, you're an a-hole. You're elitist attitude would be a better fit with michigan fans.

I was asking a question about bowls in general. I am making a case for a larger playoff system .. Not trying to be an a-hole.
