New Orleandiers,
I'm supposed to be coming in from out of town today to attend the IRL Race over on the Wank... I'm seeing 90% rain chance all day in and around New Orleans. Any reason to think they get the race in today? Looking for local inputs.
Thanks in advance.

Indy cars will run in the rain on road courses, so theres a chance they will race. Dont know for sure though.

They had no issues qualifying in the rain yesterday afternoon. I had a blast out there. Takes balls of steel to go wide open in those cars in the rain. Very cool to watch.

You went to qualifying? The IRL press release said their qualifying was interrupted due to weather yesterday.

They still held qualifying. The second practice session was cancelled but to lightning. At least this is what I read this morning. We are on the shuttle to track now. They race in rain as long as there is no standing water on track.

It started late because they had to make sure the track was draining properly from my understanding. First heat went without issue. The second heat they had to stop because debris had to be cleared from the track and then there was some serious lightning.

I'm out here now. It sucks. They canceled the Indy Lights race.No word yet on the other races. There is a frickton of standing water on the track.
BTW we are known as New Orleanians. No big deal, just letting you know.

Just arrived at track. Yes there is a shite ton of water on track. They are driving trucks on it now and you ought to see the water being pushed off the track. Fingers crossed it stops raining.

They are saying it's all about the drainage (yay swamps). Normally, only severe water on the track or lightning will stop them from racing on a road course.

Race Time!
Don't watch much racing these days but wanted to check out the track on TV. Gotta say I love the side by side commercial/race view. Not missing the action during a commercial break is really nice imo. I would have switched channels during the last break but didn't, good on them.

The water sprays are awesome

Funny, the grass is a death trap. Sinking into the swamp.

Another caution lol

The race was pretty good when they were on wet tires. Now they're on slicks on a damp track and everything has gone to hell. It's ridiculous now. They are going to be way short on the lap count by the time 2 hrs is up.

This hard to watch, with all the yellow. At least my girl Simona is up,to 5th. Power and Montoya behind her.

Simona up to P4. Passed TK on the restart. But of course they are back to full course yellow yet again.
