Not in a pro offense. Doesn't read a defense pre-snap. Jameis is light years ahead of him.

That might be as dumb of a statement I have read. Mariota reads presnap as well as anyone.

Mariota is 6'4" runs 4.4 and has a good arm. You're stupid not to take him.

That's more of an indictment of mariota's ability than Winston's. The guy that said there are no good QBs this year is right.

Forget all the off field stuff for a minute. Winston makes a ton of terrible decisions. His footwork is clumsy to say the least. And his mechanics, especially the hitch in his delivery, need to be improved dramatically.

Yeah, total bust for an NFL QB. He may not be the dumbass JFF is but there is no way you would draft this guy in the top 4 rounds as an NFL GM.

Not close to the top of the list of concerns with this guy. Let's start with the fact that he's made approximately 0 pro level passing reads in his career and about 4 pro level throws. You're basically training a high school QB in an NFL body to be a QB. He screams Kap without all the docuhiness. He could be good, but he will either need a system specifically designed for him (similar to RG3 2012) or to sit for a pretty long time.

I can agree with this.

Reminds me of a taller, more accurate Russell Wilson. But this is college football in a hunh. Will it translate?

The thing with Winston is that he's not someone you want to give millions to lead your team. Very Jamarcus and I was a huge J Russ fan.

Yep. Plus he's very intelligent which goes a long way at the next level.

I'd absolutely draft Mariotta later in 1st,2nd ,3rd. I think given time he can be very good. There are very few nfl ready qbs these days. He seems to be a very intelligent, very high character guy, and his arm is just fine. I think he has plenty of tools to eventually be a very good qb in the nfl. Just needs a little time.

Russell Wilson had a much better pro preparation as a college player. The learning curve is so steep coming out of that Oregon offense going to the pros, it's why those qbs never translate. Yea he's smart, but his 4 years of reps in that offense just don't prepare you to play the position in the nfl.

Remember this post:

Mariota will have a successful NFL career.

Winston will flop or get himself kicked out of the NFL.

Andrew Luck, Steve Young, Donovan McNabb, Randall Cunningham to name a few. I'll throw in RG3 as well because he will get a lot better in the next few seasons.

How can you read pre-snap when you run a play every 15 seconds? He runs a high school system on steroids at Oregon. How many times tonight did he ever check to a different play?
