Does Almora get a start tomorrow? His defense is good and he is right handed. I don't any way Heyward is in the lineup.

I think it's got to be Soler.

That shitty first strike to Kris Bryant in the B9 last night had me so red hot fired up. That ruined his AB...he never says boo to an umpire and even he turned around to let that back of dicks know he was out of his stupid fat mind.

Yea, Bryant never says anything to umps; but that shithead deserved it. Terrible freaking call.

And Heyward needs to sit. I can understand Maddon wanting him in the lineup for defense against Kershaw where runs are a premium. But the bottom of the order was two automatic outs last night. He needs the offseason in the worst way to figure out something at the plate. I'm ready to hand RF over to Almora or put Bryant/Zobrist out there with Soler in LF.

I think I'd consider flipping Bryant and Rizzo in the order right now too. Rizzo might see some better pitches to hit with Bryant behind him.

Guys, Clayton Kershaw is kinda good. I'm not worried.

Well you should be. It goes beyond Kershaw, it's a Cub issue and we've managed to get away with it because our starting pitching is pretty darn good to and we've had some magic moments I don't think you can rely on to continue.

I'm concerned about the bats but not the series. They've figured out ways to get wins all season. I'm confident they'll figure it out before it's too late.

I wish I had the same confidence and I know this team under Joe is different from the uptight playoff teams under Lou, the implosion under Dusty or the two 80's teams.

But so many red flags...bullpen has been shakey at best, Jake managed to get out with the lead but he looked shakey, some of our better hitters just ain't hitting and it this point looks doubtful they will, pitchers having to knock in runs for us, waiting till the 8th and 9th to score (from what I saw of Jansen and the Indian's staff, that's over now). So yeah a bit worried. It's the old Cub fan in me I guess.

Those red flags are the exact same as last year.... we just have a little better pitching this go around. I hate it so much, I really hope they can turn it around because like you said, Jansen is damn near unhittable and the Indians pen is their greatest strength. We're in trouble to say the least......

Have to, and given Russell's struggles as well as his well-documented troubles hitting lefties this year, I would seriously consider sitting him and shuffling some folks around the infield to get the best hitters in there. This game is pretty big, need to put our best lineup out there and let it fly so we can get a big enough lead where it doesn't come down the pens. Cause we did not look good at all against Jansen.

You guys are going to feel so much better when the Cubs come and score 5 runs on Hill in the first three innings.

That would do the trick as long as Jake holds up his end of the bargain.

The Dodgers were very patient against the Professor last night. I don't think they are generally a patient bunch, but if they continue that I can see the Jake of most of this year piling up pitches early.

I feel like that is a very real possibilty. If the players are pressing, the fans are pressing twice as much. I think they tag Hill early tomorrow night and Jake has a strong outing

Here are some stats and info to calm your nerves regarding the offense, specifically Russell and Rizzo:

Addison Russell NLDS, NLCS 2016:

23 plate appearances
.045/.087/.045
13.0% strikeout rate
0.00% walk rate

9 of those 23 plate appearances came against the likes of Clayton Kershaw, Madison Bumgarner, and Johnny Cueto.

-He’s only struck out 3 times in 23 plate appearance, which is notable because
-He’s working with just a .053 BABIP, and is
-Still seeing nearly as many Pitches/PA (3.70) as he did in the regular season (3.91).
-Separately, 9 of his 23 plate appearances have come against Kershaw, Cueto, and Bumgarner, which is important, because
-He should have much more favorable match-ups over the next two days (likely Rich Hill and Julio Urias).

Anthony Rizzo NLDS, NLCS 2016:

26 plate appearances
.043/.154/.043
23.1% strikeout rate
11.5% walk rate

13 of 26 plate appearances have been against Bumgarner, Kershaw, Cueto, Jansen, and Moore, another lefty. Rizzo is also dealing with an abnormally and unsustainably low BABIP (.059), while still seeing almost exactly as many pitches per plate appearance (3.92) now, as he did during the regular seasons of 2015 (3.93) and 2016 (3.93).

I hope they score early too. Hill has like a 0.53 ERA in starts at home so far.

I have no clue who he's faced though.

Lineup needs to be shaken up as well.

Sorry Med, that didn't really do the trick.

And 14 of those 23 were not.

Weak contact leads to this.

You're right, he should have, but I think it's in his head now.

Cause he's getting mostly weak contact as well.

I'd sit Russell cause his BA against lefties is atrocious for a right hander, move Baez to short, Z to second and Almora to the outfield. Go for the early strike against Hill, who had a run better ERA than Jake in the regular season but who has struggled in the post-season so far. Got to get him early before they get the game to Jansen.

I'd be surprised if Russell actually sits, although I wouldn't disagree with the move. And, I'd bet Soler gets the start in LF, with Zobrist in RF tonight. I think they might need to move Baez up in the order, maybe to the 5 hole.

I agree that they need to get to Hill early. Hopefully, they're seeing that curveball well in the early innings. I worry about the shadows being an issue the first time through the order with the 5:00 start.

Cubs should be more used to shadows than most teams. Hopefully that helps Jake. He mentioned that factor in interviews yesterday.
