Ads could soon appear on NHL teams' jerseys.

NHL chief operating officer John Collins said in an interview posted Thursday by Sports Business Daily that jersey sponsorship is "coming and happening," though he didn't give any details or a timeframe for when the move may occur.

Not too worried about this. We're basically the only country where this doesn't happen in every sport.

Yeah, until you see iconic classic jerseys like the Cardinals in baseball or Packers in football with ads all over them.

I think sponsorships usually look tasteful, but every once in a while one looks like arse. See Chevrolet and Manchester United.

There is no way it could look good on football jerseys, they're so simplistic and classic (most at least).

The overseas hockey jerseys are hideous.

As a big hockey fan, I really don't care. I love soccer, and their jerseys don't bother me.

I would imagine the NFL will be very similar to the AFL. Couple of shoulder ads.

The trick is limiting it to one sponsor.

Collins quoted saying jersey ads "coming and happening." NHL spox tells TSN Collins was speaking in N American context, not specific to NHL

Guess they mean the minors for now.
