NFL Ratings are just getting worse...

The NFL’s downturn in ratings has been the dominant sports media storyline of the fall of 2016.
And unfortunately for the league, it’s not getting any better, especially when it comes to the primetime windows. And while there are a number of factors at play in what’s ailing the NFL right now, the quality of the primetime games isn’t helping.
In spite of featuring the game’s most storied rivalry in Bears-Packers, Thursday Night Football was down 17% versus last year. The abysmal 6-6 tie between the Cardinals and Seahawks was unsurprisingly down 15% from last year, proving that not all close games are guaranteed to drive viewership. The Monday Night Football matchup between Houston and Denver was also uninspiring and down 13% from last year.
Suck it, Roger

Used to watch all I could. Then I went to watching my fantasy players. Now I don't watch unless I have absolutely nothing else to do.

Cowherd said it's mostly because of the election cycle and the Cubs in the World Series. We'll find out soon enough I guess

I think it's much deeper than this, but you are right...we will see.
FWIW, this is the least excited i've ever been about the NFL.

Garbage officiating and too many fricking commercial breaks

I dont buy that. But who knows.

I know it is beaten to death, but part is the political stories they added to it. It is just getting annoying. Sports is supposed to be an escape from real life.
Another aspect is just the overall saturation of the market.
The presidential election counts for some, but not a majority of its issues.

That's a pretty bold statement considering there was no baseball or debate competing with the Sunday or Monday night games.
At least there was game 5 of the NLCS on the same time as the Thursday night game... that would definitely take away some casual sports fans.

Too much bias to offenses. Too many penalties. Commercials are better than college. Too much merchandising, all the charities, etc. Just stuff to sell jerseys. No tackling. It is not a quality product anymore.

I feel like I've turned into a casual fan and that's it.
Because every time you turn around there's a fricking flag on the field or they're going to commercial.

This plays a part, but there's much more to it than this.

Dude, you are always in these threads. You absolutely HATE the NFL. We get it, man.

I really wish NFL would/could develop their own streaming service or package that could be offered to everyone not just direct tv.
I can't watch Saints games. It's the only game that I'd 100% watch every week but I CAN'T. How absurd

The NFL should just put the Cowboys on SNF or MNF every week
