NFL and NFLPA are on verge of pushing back draft to May and moving up start of league year to before combine, per sources.

NFL and NFLPA are close to enacting these calendar changes for the next three years.

I wonder why they would move the draft

its not competing with anything tv wise so it cant be because of that.

Anyone else think it would be better if the draft came first, then free agency?

Not opining one way or the other. But I've heard this before.

As long as they moved it back to the weekend (I know that has 0% chance of happening), I could careless when they have it

Ive heard they want an event every month in the offseason. So combine in March, free agency in April, draft in May, minicamps in June, then practice starts in July.

I don't really like it. I actually enjoy hearing about other sports on sportstalk radio from time to time.

Yeah, my dad and uncle used to get together at the beach and watch the draft in a sports bar on Saturday. At least the first couple of rounds. I was going to start joining them every year but then it got moved to Thursday night. I usually watch it Thursday only now.

The next step is for rounds to take entire weeks. 6-7 picks in a 60-90 minute broadcast a day in primetime.

No, that makes too much sense.
