NFL Media analyst Lance Zierlein rated Cook slightly ahead of Fournette among college juniors: It’s a matter of styles. Fournette would be a great fit in certain offenses. But I think when it comes to being able to create for yourself, Cook is more able because of his flexibility and wiggle.

The NFL is changing. Hell, Shane Vereen was basically a Super Bowl MVP.

I wouldn't give up anything to take either. Running backs are a dime a dozen, and nobody's getting 25 carries a game anymore. Not for long, anyway.

I can't see Fournette holding up in the NFL with his running style.

I absolutely love LF and I think he definitely has a bright future ahead but I think I agree that Cook has more potential in today's NFL.

Fournette is a bruiser of a back. He's explosive and fast and strong, but he is not the shiftiest. He IS shifty, but not on the level that Cook is. When LF gets to the NFL he is going to find that a lot of guys won't be thrown around like his current competition. That is where shiftiness is important. He will still bowl over people, but I think he won't be able to run through as many guys and have long runs. Right now when he is in this situation (someone about to tackle) he just hits the guy and throws him. Won't happen like that in the NFL.

Cook's shiftiness will lend to more success in the passing game, too. Look at (IMO) the two TOP NFL RBs right now: Le'Veon Bell and David Johnson. They are both the same type of players as Cook... Shifty, but still strong/fast. A hybrid. But they're excellent in the passing game.

Warrick Dunn really needs to talk to this guy.

I'd love to see the colts draft Fournette. Pro style offense with a good QB and talent at WR

I agree, that would be a good fit for him. Plus, Gore is there and could be a solid mentor.

His shelf life would be shorter than cup of milk in a microwave.

Actually, this is what the analyst said:

quote:

Fournette is a force of nature with a chiseled physique. He runs with intimidating power, and understands when to challenge tackles with brute force and when to show some shake in the open field. Fournette needs to prove he can be used on third downs as a blocker or pass-catcher to solidify his stock.

And Fournette is great in both aspects.

What style is that? It is going to be non contact injuries that limit a RB like him.

I really wish Leonard had someone been a year older and come out this past year. He would have fit in perfect in Dallas.

Seems eerily similar to Adrian Peterson's, no?

Running Backs in the NFL today are the most replaceable position on the field meaning putting an average Running Back in to replace a guy who can put is considered a good RB can have almost the exact same stat line and impact even though they don't have the same skills and abilities and are used to get 3 or 4 yards and open up the field for the passing game but with that being said the real difference is between the good/average RBs like AP and Lynch have been for so many years, they have an extraordinary skills that not are not only better but different and allow the offense to be more centered around them.....This is why I think Fournette will excel in the NFL, there very few Backs that have the same skill set as him, he's a guy that teams won't be able to plug in another back with the same running style and skills and get the same type of production and workload.

No. Fournette's comp is more like Steven Jackson.

They're going to change coaches who knows what offense they will run next year.

Fournette is bigger and I think he's more of a bruiser than Peterson.

It could all work out great for Fournette. I just think it's a risky way to run in the NFL.

I think he's somewhere in between Jackson and Peterson. He's bigger and more of a bruiser than Peterson but he's got more wiggle than Jackson.
