I didn't see it posted..

quote:

After the Colts cut Richardson on Thursday, the former No. 3-overall pick told ESPN's Mike Wells that the team was not justified in suspending him for conduct detrimental to the team. Wells reports that he'll likely file a grievance to get back the $3.1 million in salary that he'll lose by getting cut.

quote:

"We had made an agreement where I'd weigh 230 pounds, but it turns out that I was supposed to be 227 pounds and they didn't tell me that. We've got a list of things we can use against the Colts where I can get my money back. They were fining me for failing to meet conduct code. Not making weight is not conduct code."

Dude just isn't very smart. Admitted yesterday to being overweight.
quote:

Richardson acknowledged that he was fined repeatedly for being overweight, although he says he was only three pounds heavier than the 227 pounds the Colts asked him to weigh.

“I was continually fined for being 230 pounds,” Richardson said.

You'd think 3lbs for a guy that size would be well within the deviation the human body can weigh at any time.

I suppose they accounted for that when they put that 227 limit on him though.

Why? Because they jettisoned a shitty RB who was of no use to them?

No because they suspended him to void his guarentees in his contract.

He sucks and he was out of shape. Colts have a business to run. I have no sympathy for him.

Its a shitty way to do business and real short sighted on their part. 3 mil is not alot of money to have FAs not look at you because of shite like this

I'm going to ignore the fact that this sentence makes no sense.

He wasn't suspended for his weight or his play

Why was he suspended? For missing the team plane? Did he call and let them know why and that he would be at the team hotel in time for meetings?

The story here isn't the 3M...it's that while Trent Richardson was watching his career go down the drain, he didn't care enough to keep his weight down.

Umm, no.

quote:

Richardson missed a team practice and flight to New England the day prior to January's AFC Championship Game, he says, because he rushed his girlfriend to the hospital with pregnancy complications. The team has not disputed this but told Richardson the suspension was levied because he did not contact team officials in a timely manner to inform them of his whereabouts.

Maybe he shouldn't have been outpaced by every single FA RB pick-up both Cleveland and Indy added and he wouldn't have gotten cut. 3 lb overweight on the agreement was probably more like 10-15 lb more than they wanted his weight to be.
